Step into the heart of Wales on our Welsh Castles, Mountains and Steam Railway day tour — a carefully curated journey through Wales’ most striking landscapes and historic landmarks.

This tour travels from Cardiff into South and Mid Wales, visiting the impressive Caerphilly Castle, one of the largest and best-preserved medieval fortresses in Europe.

From here, the journey continues into open countryside, with a nostalgic steam train ride on the Brecon Mountain Railway winding through the stunning scenery of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.

Enjoy free time in the historic market town of Brecon, beautifully set on the River Usk. Take a peaceful walk along the canal, visit the atmospheric cathedral, or relax over lunch in one of the town’s cafés.

Next, you'll visit Cyfarthfa Castle, a grand 19th-century mansion that tells the story of Wales’ industrial heritage and the ironmasters who helped shape Wales.

Returning to Cardiff, we pass by the iconic Cardiff Castle.

This was a wonderful tour. We learned a lot about Welsh history and had a chance to admire nature in the National Park. Our guide Chris was very knowledgable and informative. We would highly recommend this tour to everybody.

Very nice tour of the Cardiff area, enjoyed Caerphilly most of all. Castle Coch was surrounded by scaffolding and we were told we’d get to see a fourth castle to make up for it, but that didn’t happen. Still, a lovely day and a great chance to see areas around Cardiff. Our tour guide was informative, and the time spent at each location was good.

It was a small group, which was nice. The guides and driver were excellent. Learned about some Welsh history and traditions. Beautiful countryside, especially the Brecon Beacons National Park.

I’ve just got back from a tour of South Wales with this company, and wow, it was amazing! The whole tour was well organised which made everything smooth and easy. I saw some cool historical spots, including Tintern Abbey, and the views were out of this world – think postcard-worthy scenery at every turn. The driver guide was a legend – so warm and welcoming and knew loads about where we went, filling the day stories that made each place come alive. It felt more like a day out with friends than a sightseeing tour. Thanks for such a fantastic day!
