Catalina Casino
The Catalina Casino is actually not a gambling facility but venue hosting dozens of big bands during the 1930s and 1940s. At 20,000 square feet, the Catalina Casino Ballroom is the largest circular room in the world without pillars for support. The outdoor promenade encircles the ballroom and overlooks the protected cove of Avalon Bay and Descanso Beach. Our tour passes by giving great views of this breathtaking landmark.

4.00Knowledgeable and scenic trip. Guide was very good being extremely knowledgeable. Just enough time. Vehicle was open on sides so be mindful depending on the weather.

5.00As we landed here off our cruise it was perfect to have this 50 minute guided vehicle tour. Located just next to the jetty we took this trip up into the hills with great views back into the harbour, of some of the homes of the Wrigley family, the churches and the former home (for 1 year) of Marilyn Monroe. Generally also great to drive through the streets in Town, all with individually unique looking houses. Who knew that every property was worth over $1m dollars and no more can be built on the island. Make sure you are OK with heights and don’t mind not always being able to see the edge of the road.

5.00This was a great and reasonably affordable way to see some of the rest of Catalina that we couldn't get to on foot. Some folks rented the golf cart to drive up the windy path, but we preferred the tram with narration, especially after seeing how narrow the road gets at times.
Need to check each tickets before leaving the booth at pier.

1.00On Dec, 27 we booked the Cataline Island City & Scenic Mt. Ada Tour at 4:30 PM because is was my 70th birthday at the pier directly with an agent who promised we would see the sunset. Well, a computer glitch occur and the tour was over book - not enough seats on the vehicle. Why? Because some of my group's tickets were for the 28th not the 27th. By the time all was resolved the sun had set. Sent a letter which was returned twice - guess they don't want to hear from customers. I wrote requesting that in the future, so this can be avoided with other customers, the agent at the booth review each ticket to ensure that everyone in the group is schedule for the same day and time and that customers buying the tickets are asked to review them before leaving the counter. (since I don't think the computer glitch will be corrected).
