Mestia is nestled amidst the dramatic peaks of the Caucasus Mountains, offering some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of Georgia. Towering snow-capped peaks pierce the sky, while lush green valleys sprawl out below. Mestia as the heart of Svaneti invite with a unique culture and architectural tradition. Be sure to sample some of the local Svan honey, which is known for its unique flavor. And of course, no trip to Georgia would be complete without trying some of the country's famous wines. Mestia has its own distinct wines, made from local grape varietals.

Our journey commences with a visit to the impressive Enguri water dam, a marvel of engineering nestled amidst picturesque landscapes. It is the world's second highest concrete arch dam with a height of 271.5 metres (891 ft).
Mestia
From there, we set our course for Mestia, the jewel of the Svaneti region. En route, we pause several times to capture breathtaking moments, immersing ourselves in the beauty of cascading waterfalls and panoramic vistas of the majestic Caucasus mountain range. These stops offer ideal opportunities for photography and contemplation of nature's wonders.

4.00Maxim was very polite, reliable, punctual, and kind. Although he only speaks Russian, we managed to communicate well with a translator. He paid full attention to all our needs, and I highly recommend taking a tour with him. The drive up into the mountains is long and the day is quite tiring, but the views make it absolutely worth it. We reached our final destination, Mestia, in the late afternoon, so unfortunately we didn’t have much time left to explore there, which was a bit of a pity. Overall, I recommend this trip to everyone, even if the price is a bit on the higher side.

5.00I took a side trip from Tbilisi to Kutaisi, which is a beautiful wonder in and of itself! Then, I took this tour with Maxim, a great driver and guide who was very accommodating to my wishes for places to stop/skip on the trip to Mestia. Mestia is absolutely gorgeous! It is a Georgian mountain town near the Russian border, in the high Caucasus. The whole drive there and back, you will see so many spectacular views of snowcapped mountains, forests, and waterfalls! There are also great places to get traditional Georgian food along the way!
