What sets this adventure apart is the expertise of our certified local interpreter, who brings deep knowledge of the area and its rich history. Join us for an off-the-beaten-path hiking and caving experience in El Sistema de Cuevas Arenales in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico.
We’ll begin with a scenic walk alongside a river in the north-central part of the island, far from the usual tourist crowds. Immerse yourself in nature as we jump off canyon cliffs, swim through stunning caves, and learn about the history of the Taíno natives of Puerto Rico.
Please note that this is not a private tour. Transportation is included from a designated meeting point.

Embark on an exhilarating adventure at Charco Azul, where we’ll explore three unique caves nestled in a lush rainforest in the heart of the island. This tour offers a range of experiences from moderate to challenging, depending on your fitness level. We’ll start with a hike down to the river, where a thrilling jump marks the beginning of our adventure. Swim through the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the caves, discover a hidden waterfall, leap off canyon cliffs, and marvel at ancient Taino native markings. This tour can take around 7 hours from pickup to drop-off depending on the group. Charco Azul & Cuevas Arenales translates to Blue Pool & Sand Cave and is located in Vega Baja, PR.

5.00This was one of the highlights of our trip. It was an amazing adventure, connecting with nature, learning about the island, it's native plant and animal species as well as swimming and walking through caves along the river. There were approximately 20 people in our group total including our two guides who were helpful and full of knowledge. You'll need a car because it's approximately 1 hour west of San Juan, I think it is priced appropriately for the four hours of guidance and safety gear provided. Our 10 year old loved the different spots he could cliff jump from and our whole family enjoyed the adventure. It is one of the most beautiful natural wonders you will ever experience, don't even think about it.....book it.

3.00We have mixed views of this experience for what we paid. Although our guide Abdul was wonderful, we felt the group was far too large for the area to truly experience what this area has to offer.

5.00(English follows 😋)Nous avons fait l’aventure des grottes (Canyon et cascade cachée à Charco Azul) avec GeoAventuras PR et ça a vraiment été l’un des meilleurs moments de notre séjour à Porto Rico ! Mara et son binôme étaient des guides formidables : pleins d’énergie, très sympathiques et ils ont réussi à créer une super ambiance tout au long de la journée. On s’est tout de suite sentis à l’aise et inclus dans le groupe. L’excursion est très chouette et accessible, même pour les personnes moins sportives. Le niveau de difficulté est parfait : suffisamment d’aventure pour que ce soit excitant, mais sans être trop physique. Nous avons appris plein de choses intéressantes sur la flore locale. Ceux qui le souhaitaient ont pu faire des sauts de falaise (maximum 5 m), c’était bien encadré et optionnel. Les guides ont pris énormément de belles photos tout au long de la journée et nous les ont gentiment partagées gratuitement ensuite, un très beau geste ! Notre moment préféré ? La traversée à la nage des grottes. C’était tout simplement magique, rafraîchissant et inoubliable. Si vous cherchez une activité nature fun, sûre et originale à Porto Rico, foncez ! Merci beaucoup à Mara et à toute l’équipe de GeoAventuras pour cette superbe journée ! 🌿🏞️ ------- We did the **Cave Adventure** (Canyon and Hidden Waterfall in Charco Azul) with **GeoAventuras PR** and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Puerto Rico! Mara and her partner were amazing guides, full of energy, super friendly, and they created a really fun and positive atmosphere from start to finish. They made everyone feel comfortable and included. The excursion itself was excellent and surprisingly accessible, even for people who are less fit. It never felt too difficult, yet it was adventurous enough to be exciting. We learned a lot about the local flora and the natural environment, which was very interesting. We had the option to do cliff jumps (maximum 15ft max), and those who wanted to could jump, it was optional and well-supervised. The guides also took tons of beautiful photos throughout the day and kindly shared them with everyone for free afterwards — a really nice touch! Our absolute favorite part was swimming through the caves. It was magical, refreshing, and by far the most memorable moment of the whole adventure. If you're looking for a fun, safe, and unique nature experience in Puerto Rico, don't hesitate — book this tour! Thank you Mara and the whole GeoAventuras team for such a great day! 🌿🏞️

5.00This was my second time going on this tour with Geoaventuras and it did not disappoint. It is STILL my favorite tour I have done while in Puerto Rico. Abdiel and his colleagues are great guides and really love what they do. They are educational, and ensure a fun and safe trip. The cave tour is a truly unique and beautiful experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Puerto Rico that's looking for a fun adventure and maybe a bit of an adrenaline rush!

5.005 out of 5. This is our 3rd adventure with Abdiel. It did not disappoint. My whole famiky enjoyed this one of a kind experience. Especially my kids! We especially love the cave adventure!

5.00Family of five, two kids ages 11 and 13. Since before we got to the meeting point the communication was excellent. Delia gave us all the details we needed to find the meeting point and details about what we needed for the day to have the best experience. Once we arrive Delia welcomed us and waited with us until Mara and the rest of the group arrived. Once Mara, our guide, arrived she introduced herself and explained the nexts steps. The size of the group was great not too big, 12 total. The whole time Mara was very detailed about the instructions and expectations so everyone had a safe and enjoyable experience. Once on the hike Mara gave us some history facts along the way, which made the experience even more special. We jumped from cliffs and swam in dark caves, enjoyed waterfalls and took tons of pictures. Mara and Delia also took pictures and videos and later shared them with us, which was great because they were taken from a different angle. Overall, this was a GREAT experience and my whole family loved it!! Recommend 1000%! Thank you Delia and Mara for reminding us how beautiful and special our island is. Acho pe erre es otra cosa!
