Chacchoben Mayan Ruins is the most popular and visited attraction for a day in Costa Maya. It is approximately an hour drive from Costa Maya Port. This site is just a few kilometers from the village of Chacchoben from which it's name derive. The translation of the Mayan word "Chacchoben" refers to "The Place Of The Red Corn". The structures at this site are characterized by large temples and massive platforms dated from 700 AD.

Sus aguas cálidas, son una invitación a pasearse todo el día nadando, recorrer el boulevard que esta lleno de tiendas para comprar souvenirs o simplemente relajarte y disfrutar los masajes frente al mar y probar los auténticos platillos de la gastronomía mexicana.

5.00This was a fantastic tour. Our tour guide Elizear (?) , was amazing, knowledgeable, spoke English very clearly, and was kind and helpful. I highly recommend this experience. It was personal and we felt like we had won the lottery. The price was right and felt it was more than worth it! We had plenty of time to explore, take pictures etc. and never worried about getting back to the cruise ship on time. A Great Excursion!

4.00The company delivered everything it promised. However, some details could be improved: the sound system of the bus was very poor, making it difficult to listen well to the guide. And the guide, despite the good will, did not have much charisma. On the spot the group was divided and we stayed with a guide who spoke only Spanish. This one was better.

5.00Our family had a great private tour of Chacchoben with our guide Carlos and driver Gabriel. We had an easy pickup from the port, walking by the hundreds of people who booked the same excursion through the cruiseline as they waited to board coach buses. The private nature of this tour allowed us to take our time, get all the pictures we wanted, and ask lots of questions. Carlos really knows his stuff and made us feel like his own family. After the tour we were offered a stop for some local food and a visit to the beach, however the only reason we declined was to make it to an activity back on the ship. I would highly recommend booking with Toucan Tours.

4.00It’s quite a long drive to the ruins, around an hour. We were taken from the ship on a minibus then put onto a full size coach. The ruins were interesting but not worth the long drive

5.00We had some rocky seas that prevented our ship from actually making it to Costa Maya. We found out the morning before we were supposed to arrive but just outside of the 24 hour window. Since we didn't buy the Internet on our cruise, we were planning on calling once we got to our detour port (cozumel). We did not expect a refund since we were outside the refund window, just wanted to let them know so they weren't waiting on us. Once we got to some wifi, I got an email saying that we got a full refund. They must have heard that we were not going to make it beforehand and just refunded us. Wish we could have made it because it looked like a lot of fun, but really appreciate viator giving us the refund since it was out of our control!
