• Smooth Ride, Stunning Views, and an Excellent Guide

  We visited the Chandragiri Hills Cable Car during our stay in Kathmandu and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, largely thanks to our guide Shankar and our driver Madhu. The cable car itself is modern, safe, and impressively efficient. The ride takes around 10 to 15 minutes and climbs to about 2,551 metres, rising quickly through forest before opening up to sweeping views over the Kathmandu Valley and, on a clear day, the Himalayan range. The sense of elevation is dramatic, and the cooler air at the top is a welcome contrast to the city below. What truly elevated the experience for us was Shankar. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and generous with his time. He was able to use a pass to take us to the front of the queue, which made everything feel relaxed and seamless. Instead of standing around waiting, we were enjoying coffee at the summit while he explained Hindu belief systems, the symbolism of the Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple, and how the site fits into Nepal’s religious traditions. His explanations were clear and thoughtful, and he answered every question with patience and enthusiasm. Madhu, our driver, was also excellent. Kathmandu traffic can be unpredictable, but we felt completely safe and well looked after throughout the journey. He was punctual, calm, and professional. The summit area is well maintained and offers plenty of space to walk around, take photographs, and appreciate the views. Watching pilgrims visit the temple alongside tourists adds a meaningful dimension to the experience. Overall, this is a very worthwhile excursion from Kathmandu, especially if you go early for the best visibility. With Shankar guiding us and Madhu driving, it felt smooth, informative, and genuinely enriching. We would highly recommend both the Chandragiri Hills Cable Car and this excellent guide and driver team.

  After a comfortable ride in the middle of night from airport to hotel, we asked driver if he can take us on a tour to Chandragiri Hills and he replied, its our duty, why not? So we decided to go Chandragiri Hills and it was very good decision we made. The view was very clear and it is good to go out of city for fresh air. It was good experience.

Shankar, our guide, provided much insight to the sites, making the city’s history easy to understand while ensuring a smooth trip. Madhu, our driver, was always patient and smiling, at the airport pick-up and throughout the tour. Highly recommend their team for anyone wanting a seamless tour of Nepal.

  I had an enjoyable day with my guide taking me up the cable car. There was no rush and he was very flexible when I asked for a stop by the Monkey Temple on the way back. It’s great having a guide in a new place as you get so much more out of your visit. Highly recommended.
