We begin our journey at Elafonisi, the day’s most breathtaking destination. Dive into shallow turquoise waters, walk along soft pink sands, and explore the exotic lagoons, ideal even for children.
Next, we head west to the stunning Falasarna Beach, a local favorite known for its crystal-clear turquoise sea and wide, white sandy shore—perfect for unwinding under the sun.
Our final stop is the traditional village of Vouves, where we’ll visit the oldest olive tree in the world and enjoy a tasting of pure Cretan extra virgin olive oil—a true taste of the island's heritage.

Elafonissi Beach
Off the southwestern tip of Crete, about 75 kilometers from Chania town, lies Elafonisi beach and small island. It is within walking distance from the mainland, sometimes without even getting one’s toes wet. It was once used by pirates to hide their loot (lafyra) and that is how it got its name. The island (about 1.3 km long and 400 meters wide) is a protected nature reserve and boasts one of the finest sand beaches in the country. More than that, Elafonisi is the only Greek contender in a Tripadvisor list of the world’s 25 best beaches for 2014. This is to be expected: blindingly white-pink sand, turquoise-white lagoon-like waters that ripple as they pick up the breeze, an exotic place with sporadic vegetation against the stark bareness of the Cretan mountains. On the island discover numerous small coves, sandy beaches and interesting rock formations. It is also home to 110 plant species including the protected Androcymbium rechingeri, which is as rare as it sounds.
Falasarna beach is located in the western part of Crete, about 53 km from the town of Chania and 13 km from the town of Kissamos. Quite popular with day trippers, its stunning beaches and clear turquoise blue sea are unique. It has received many awards for its beauty, amenities and services enjoyed by the visitor. The long sandy beach is one of its most important advantages, as it offers the chance to the visitors to enjoy it, even in the high season period. Swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters of the beach, will make anyone feel the ultimate pleasure. Its beach is fully organized with umbrellas and sun beds in its biggest part. However, there are several free spots for those who prefer to put their own umbrella and towel on the sand. What will impress you the most, is the charming and unique sunset, one of the most beautiful in Greece. The sunset there is really impressive, as there is nothing to obstruct your field of view between the beach and the horizon.

5.00Highly recommended! We really enjoyed our beach and olive oil tasting tour. It was a well organised, personalised and informative tour. Our guide Christine was amazing. She was so passionate and knowledgeable on Creten culture, a great communicator & very attentive. Nick was a great driver, we felt really relaxed and safe, especially on some of the narrow winding roads.

5.00The most amazing day spent in Chania. Not only did we get to see 3 of the most beautiful and popular locations of the east side of Crete but we also learned about Crete’s history and heritage. My husband, daughter and I chose the private tour and it was so comfortable. They picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back at our hotel which was really convenient for us traveling with a child. The lunch included was delicious and perfect. The tour vehicle is really clean and well organized. There’s a display screen in the van to see beautiful pictures of Crete and learn more about the island during the drive. The hosts were prepared with Wi-Fi in the van, charging cords, snacks, drinks, and everything we needed for the beach. Thank God they had beach umbrellas for us because the beaches there are so popular that rental umbrellas get sold out fast even in the morning. The hosts were really kind and accommodating. They stopped at beautiful spots so we could take pictures. I would highly recommend booking with them. No matter how many locations you decide to see, you’ll have a comfortable and fulfilling experience.

5.00We were so thrilled with the tour provided by Christine and Thanos! Not only did we learn a lot, but it also allowed us to see much more of the western side of Crete than we would have on our own. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel, and they were very punctual. The tour company provided mats, umbrellas, a meal, and drinks for our trip. (They are not allowed to drive to the beach, so you do set them up yourself and there is a bit of a walk). We were so grateful for the cold drinks throughout the warm day. I truly felt that they thought of everything to make the excursion as convenient and easy as possible. At Elafonisi beach, our first stop, we spent the whole time in the water. However, next time, at Falasarna, I would plan to pay the extra money to purchase a sunbed at the beach since it was quite hot in the afternoon. At Falsarna, other beachgoers had quite a long walk or had to wait for a trolley, but the tour company was allowed to drive down to pick us up, which was a huge plus. We also enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere of the olive oil tasting. I definitely recommend a tour with this company, especially with Christine and Thanos! It was a great day.

5.00We had an amazing experience on this tour! Christine provided us with lots of interesting information about Cretan culture, history, and the landscape. The drive through the mountains was gorgeous, and Costas, the driver, was careful and competent. We chose to spend most of our time at Elafonissi Beach because it was perfect for the kids in our group (3 10 year olds) and it was a once-in-lifetime beach, no doubt! The olive oil tour and tasting was also cool. Christine also made some helpful recommendations for restaurants and for a boat tour to Balos. She even gave the moms in the group a gift! Such a special experience!

5.00We had an absolutely fantastic experience with Sea by Bus Crete tours! Our guide, Christine, was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into Cretan history and culture throughout the day. She was kind, courteous, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the day, creating an unforgettable experience for us. We visited some of Western Crete’s most iconic sites, including the stunning Elafonisi and Falassarna beaches, with plenty of time to explore and enjoy. Our driver, Thanos, was excellent as well — keeping us safe and on schedule while allowing us to fully experience everything on the itinerary. We truly had a day to remember and would highly recommend Sea by Bus Crete tours to anyone visiting the island!

5.00I found this tour via TripAdvisor, the reviews are all excellent so I was expecting a good day out but the tour really went above and beyond. The communication from Christina from the moment I'd booked was excellent, clear, friendly and so helpful. Their minibus is very comfy, air conditioned, modern, tv's for the excellent info provided during the drive. The lunch provided was excellent, Cretian pastries and a sandwich & drinks. Christinas knowledge and obvious pride for her heritage shone through, he was so engaging and helpful. The driver, (Kosta I think) was safe and sensible on the windy roads. The tour itself was excellent, we visited Elafonisi and Falasarna beaches then to Vouves to visit the beautiful olive tree and learn more about the olive oil industry on the island. It was just brilliant, faultless and worth every penny. Thank you so much!

5.00My family and I had a wonderful private excursion, we were followed very well the car was beautiful and all to ourselves, we were given packed lunches (very good) water drinks and even the beach mats and umbrellas. They thought of everything! And for that I thank Christine Moraitaki! Crete and 'wonderful beaches! also my thanks goes to the Guide and driver of the Thanasis excursion! 5.00One of the best days we’ve had on our holiday. Christine and Hanas were so lovely and looked after us very well. Nothing was a problem and we surely felt very comfortable in Christine and Hanas’ company. We’ve learnt a lot about Crete and its people, traditions and language which we really enjoyed. We also had a lot of free time to spend as a family and just relax in a beautiful scenery. Would definitely recommend.

5.00Christina and Thanasi were wonderful tour guides. Very accommodating and knowledgeable. They always went the extra mile to ensure our tour was perfect! Extra quick stops at the olive oil factory and Samari Gorge were a nice surprise! Must request these two tour guides. Amazing!! Beaches are beautiful!
