Chicago River
On your Architectural Tour, you will learn how the Great Chicago Fire jumped a river and allowed for visionaries of structural steel and plate glass, such as John Wellborn Root, William Le Baron Jenney, Louis Sullivan (Wright’s mentor) and Daniel Burnham, in less than ten years, lift Chicago from the ashes of the fire to new heights. Chicago’s ascent continued into the 20th century with titanic figures such as Bertrand Goldberg, Fazlur Khan and Mies van der Rohe – (higher/taller) buildings, sleeker – and it has soared in the 21st century with audacious new steeples such as The Trump Tower and Aqua designed by Jeanne Gang, an internationally known artist of architectural design.

4.00Overall good but acoustics were not great. Couldn’t understand some of what was being said. Also when guide was referring to certain buildings was never sure which one he was referring to. So many.

4.00The tour was very informative. The different architectural styles are very evident and show the spirit and imagination that built Chicago after the fire. Don't expect to sail the boat on the advertisement. The company runs several boats and you will most likely get a different one. There are free hot drinks and sodas which makes a nice change. After the tour, I walked through millennium Park which gives you an opportunity to see other buildings and architecture including the millennium bridge which I loved.

5.00Lovely tour. Nice folks. Nice boat. Exactly as advertised. Fair price. Knowledgable guide. Do note the slip is not on the main river. Actually very nice area for lunch after.

5.00Smaller boat so more personal. Tour guide extremely knowledgeable. Non alcoholic drinks were free and alcoholic drinks weren't overly pricey. Good time.

5.00I went with a group for a conference and we had an amazing time! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and I loved learning about all of the buildings! I would suggest going at sunset for the best views and pictures!

5.00I’m so glad we were able to do this! My group was trying to figure out where to put it in our trip and while it was a very cold day, it was still a blast. We learned so much about not only the physical architecture but also the history of the city of Chicago. The coffee onboard was very good and out your guide had a great way of presenting to buildings to us. I would definitely recommend to those looking for an architecture tour!

5.00This is the best way to acclimate yourself to Chicago. We learned so much from the tour guide and used what we learned all weekend long. The crew was amazing and professional and the complementary drinks especially he hot chocolate was much needed on this cold afternoon.

5.00Excellent cruz! A must do! I missed my appointment by 2 minutes because the taxi dropped us at the wrong place and they were very gracious to let us on the next trip and gave me two free drink tickets.
