I’m Mili, a lifelong resident of Split and your tour guide. Join me as we explore Diocletian's Palace, delving into its origins, evolution over the centuries, and its deep connection to the city of Split. We’ll visit the palace’s surviving sections, which have stood for 17 centuries, and discover how other parts have been seamlessly integrated into the modern city built around it.

The Peristyle of Diocletian's Palace

We will start at the Peristyle of the Palace, learning about the history of Diocletian and how this palace came to be.

Diocletian Palace Substructures

We'll go through the free part of the substructures, and learn more of the palace's architecture and history. Optionally, should you decide to see more, you can buy the tickets for the museum part of the substructures and we'll go through the rest of them, which will add some 20 or so minutes to the tour.

We had a fabulous trip round Dubrovnik Old Town with Mili who was friendly and well informed. Communication was great and we'd definitely recommend him to family and friends.

With only one short day in Split we realized that our printed self-guided walking tour would insufficient to give us the real story of the tales and history related to the highlight of Split: Diocletian’s Palace. How lucky for us that we were able to find Mili, who educated and definitely entertained us for nearly 2 hours as we learned the good, the bad and the ugly/a bit gross of this fascinating place Mili had Game of Thrones inside info at the ready, but non GOT fans like us were also super happy. His English is perfect, with a few groaner puns thrown in, and it was a delight to have him show us his city’s masterpiece and hear about its evolution 10 of 10

I loved this profund knowledge you shared with us to get an understanding of these ancient till present epochs. Eye-opening moment on the historic journey of Split/Croatia starting at Diocletian‘s time. His professionalism with familiar atmosphere made it a total recommendable trip.

Really nice guide, pleasantly prudent with calm, relaxed voice. The history arc from the Roman Empire to today's Croatian history was interestingly conceived and kept refreshingly open. Thanks for the tour, Milli!

Informative and well spoken guide! We had a great time. Would recommend doing it in the evening on warm days! Especially good for game of thrones fans.

Mili was a great guide. He was extremely knowledgeable about the Diocletian Palace - I don't think it would be possible to work out the layered history of the building without the input of an experienced guide like him. He also had excellent renderings of the building as it originally would have appeared, which really brought it to life. Lastly, he was very flexible when a sudden freak thunderstorm struck Split right as our private tour was about to start... he waiting for the torrential rain to stop and adjusted his usual route on the fly to avoid the flooding. Overall would highly recommend.
