Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
Suitable walking shoes are mandatory for those doing the hiking – no flip-flops. Suggestions: walking boots or sneakers, closed toe shoes with non-slip soles.
If you want to swim during free time, please remember to bring your own towel and swimwear.
On rare occasions the boat ride will stop operating due to bad weather or strong winds. It is beyond our control so no refunds or discounts will be issued.
In case of unexpected closure of the paths for unforeseen events, alternative routes will be taken instead for those doing the hiking
A large amount of walking is involved for those doing the hiking. You must be of average fitness and be able to keep up with the rest of the group.
Due to uneven surfaces, we cannot accept anyone with walking difficulties, below average fitness, or young children.
Minimum age is 8 years.

Borgo Storico di Manarola
Built in the valley of the torrente Groppo, until 1950 the stream which runs through the town was completely uncovered and 11 stone bridges allowed the people to cross from one side to the other. Over the next thirty years the stream was gradually covered over. The ancient village was destroyed by Saracen pirates (in 849) and the surviving people fled in land to live. When the seas were made safe again in the 11th century, people came back to settle here under the protection of the Republic of Genova. By the 1200's cultivation of vines was not only established but the wine they produced was sought after. The church of San Lorenzo was begun in 1338. The patron saint is celebrated on the 10th of August with a procession through the streets carrying a statue of him. The castle which protected the town from pirates is now a private home, you can see the garden from the panoramic walk, it is on the rock immediately above the port. Manarola is now famous for its Christmas nativity scene which is the biggest in the world. Figures outlined in thousands of lights cover the hillside. Also an Easter scene is made.

5.00We book a transport only tour but Joana the bus tour guide ensure everyone is safe and she provided information on every site and she’s very knowledgeable of the history of Cinque Terrre. She’s like a mother to everyone, she’s very protective.

5.00Amazing, don’t miss, experience. One of the top 3 things we’ve done in Italy. The trip was very smooth and our guide, Jerry, clearly communicated every step in the journey. The hike on the coast was incredible.

5.00We loved our visit to the "Cinque Terre"!! Joanne, our guide, was very friendly and was a great help all day, offering us to take pictures at the different places she knew. Walking in the mountains was a moderate difficulty and is ABSOLUTELY worth it! The views were breathtaking! Vernazza's gelato was amazing. In short, I definitely recommend the services of Walk About tours!

5.00We had heard that the Cinque Terre area was fantastic, and wanted to visit the area on our recent trip to Italy. We booked the trip, and had a great time. Our guides were great, both informative and helpful. We learned about the area, the history and the people, and enjoyed the whole day. We would definitely recommend the trip!

4.00You'll have to get out of bed early, but it's definitely worth it. Led by our enthusiastic guide Genevre, or Genie, we had a wonderful day. We have seen the most beautiful places and a lot of interesting stories were told. Definitely worth it.

5.00The guides were amazing! Claudia and Chris were so much fun and had a wealth of knowledge! Their English language was exceptional! I have done a few tours through Europe and loved these guys the most! I felt like we made new friends.

5.00Amazing trip! Claudia was an exceptional guide: friendly, easy going and yet paying attention to all details. Great beauty, wonderful hik, delicious lunch I went a la carte (try the sardines with lemon and pesto pasta). Loved how each village had its own vibe. Incredible views. Ease of transport with trains in the off season. Delicious gelato - crema cinque terre- no idea what specific flavor but i wanted more! The bus was so clean and comfortable. Our driver was wonderful too. A fabulous day trip. We did the hike and did not go to Pisa. Great to see the water, the coastline and get a different perspective of Italy.
