Let us welcome you in our distillery, tour the family estate, touch the impressive citrons on the trees, cut and smell the intense scent of the leaves and afterwards follow us to the traditional distillery. Look on the day’s tasks that are currently taking place in front of you, learn how the citron ends up from the orchard to your glass, admire the collection of items that have been carefully preserved along the way and then follow us to the bar in our yard. The experience includes, apart from the initial tour of the family estate; The tasting of 3 different Promponas’ extracts, accompanied by Naxian desserts. The attendance of an entertaining lesson about the preparation of famous cocktails that in the spacious bar of our yard. Here we will all become a company of friends, but also each one of us will become a bartender that while wearing his apron will make his own cocktail with the individual kit that each participant receives.

My wife and I visited Promponas Distillery in September 2025, and it was the absolute highlight of our time in Naxos. We signed up for the Cocktail Masterclass, led by Sofia, a 4th-generation family member. She began by taking us into the fields to learn about the citron plant, followed by a fascinating tour of the distillery and bottling operations—where we even got to fill our own souvenir bottle. The real fun started with the tasting of their three citron varieties, followed by hands-on lessons in mixing three different citron-based cocktails. Sofia is full of life and made the entire experience engaging and memorable. Naxos is the only island in Greece that produces and sells citron liqueur, and visiting Promponas should be on everyone’s itinerary. In fact, while on a separate tour in Santorini, we recommended it to a honeymoon couple who was heading to Naxos next, and later they texted us to say how much they loved the class too. 10/10—an unforgettable experience and a must-visit!

2nd time and it only gets better! We’ve brought 2 couples on separate trips and they both loved it. Sofia is the quintessential host and her enthusiasm is not to be missed. Oh, and the Kitron is wonderful! Planning to go again next year as this is a Naxos must do.

This is a must do in Naxos. The way that Sofia shared her family and Kitpon history made you feel like you were a part of their family. The process of harvesting, making, and bottling the liqueur was amazing to see. Everyone was so nice and the entire tour was both fun and delicious. Sofia was a gem, and I can’t recommend doing this enough. She had us laughing, dancing, and learning! You will want to spend all day there sipping on Kitpon and enjoying your time there.

Beautiful place, amazing history (130 years+), great time to perform cocktails and enjoy those nice "citrons" (leaves). I recommend for people who likes to discover new things and spend a good time drinking cocktails and also dancing (optional though :-))

Sophia was AMAZING, so personable and friendly! Truly a unique experience, from the tour of the citron trees, to explaining the whole distillery process, and learning how to make different cocktails with the 3 different proofs. They were also able to accommodate gluten free!
Must do while in Naxos. Great fun!

Who knew that making cocktails could be so much fun! Sofia, our host, was genuinely very funny and knowledgeable. Her personality is infectious as her passion for this family run business shines through. 100% recommend this as a MUST DO while in Naxos... Yamas!

We had an amazing time at the Promponas Distillery - Sofia is an amazing hostess, we learned a lot, we ate and drank delicious food and drink, and they even accommodated our 8 month baby!

We had a great time at the Citron Cocktail Masterclass. Yummy drinks, great music, wonderful snacks, and excellent instruction. This event had everything we were looking for. I would definitely recommend as it was one of the best things we did while on Naxos!
