  There are highs and lows for this tour. The high for me is being able to travel on the big, red, double decker bus. That was super cool even at my age. Also highs were the tour guides and bus drivers were friendly and helpful as well as very informative, so we learned a lot about Panama especially the Panama Canal. The lows is that it is not a 24hour hop on hop off bus tour so that is misleading. When you reach back to the first stop we had to come off. A few passengers including myself thought we could continue to Albrook Mall but we were told this is the end of the tour. There was no attempt to drop us off at Albrook Mall. We were left stranded to figure out how to get back to our starting point which was Albrook Mall. We eventually got a taxi and it cost about $10 to get to the Mall. So stop advertising 24hour or 48hour because it is misleading. I did the 2 day package and I would recommend that one as the first day you are figuring things out and by the second one you might better know the timing and where you want to stop off. If you intend to stop off places then take the tour from early morning so you have more time to enjoy where you stop off and not worry about missing the bus. If you do miss bus keep a metro card on you with about $5 (for a group of 10 or less) as the rides are cheap and the public metro buses are very reliable.

  We boarded at the first stop early, and decided to explore in Mi Pueblito, trusting that the bus would pass to continue with the trip every 75 minutes, and we were more than two and a half hours waiting and calling the phone that no one answered. I missed the opportunity to meet more places I had left before leaving.

  While visiting Panama City in mid-December, four family members decided to ride the hop-on, hop-off bus so we could learn about some of the city's important sites and avoid driving in the insane traffic of the downtown area. We boarded at the BioMuseo stop, which was only a few blocks from our hotel. While awaiting the bus here, we explored the museum's beautiful gardens and the Level One historical displays, which are open to the public at no charge. When we boarded the bus, the tour guide's electronic payment machine wasn't working, so she asked us to pay cash. We informed her that we don't carry cash when traveling. So she kept an eye on us to make sure we didn't attempt to hop off the bus without paying, which we finally did halfway through the trip during the scheduled stop at the company's headquarters downtown. Here, another employee boarded with a functioning machine, and we paid our admission. The bus takes you from BioMuseo out to the tip of the Amador Causeway, where there's a 10-minute stop so passengers can get off and use the restroom or buy snacks in the common area facing the yacht club docks. We could barely understand the tour guide's spiel because she spoke so fast, so we enjoyed the scenery. From the causeway, the bus goes to the historic district entrance, where the traffic jam is chronic. The bus stop is a considerable distance from the oldest part of the city, so plan on walking if you want to visit the most significant sites inside this district. We passed a fish market and several landmarks enroute to Stop #1 on the map, but I couldn't tell you what they are because we couldn't decipher what we were hearing. The downtown area is impressive to ride through, with a few buildings towering almost a thousand feet above the road but, again, no legible information. We passed a huge mall, a small airport, a large building complex (which I later googled and learned was formerly a US military facility) enroute to the Miraflores Visitor Center on the Panama Canal. The views of ships in the canal from the second story of the bus were better those during our visit to the center the previous day, which made the ride somewhat worthwhile. After the Miraflores stop, we passed some massive loading docks and a few apparently noteworthy sites before returning to BioMuseo. The bus itself appeared to be a newer model, nicely painted and in reasonably good shape, except that one of the machines (translation machine?) built into the bus wall was dangling from a wire. One person in our party had to change seats. Obviously those machines weren't functioning anyway because no one was using them. In summary, we would not have seen any of the city with access to the hop-on, hop-off bus because we were unwilling to brave the traffic, especially downtown. But because the language barrier was insurmountable, the tour was not worth the price we paid for admission. I would recommend that management install electronic tour guide machines which tell the story of Panama City's important sites in a dozen different languages (like many European cities do), thereby allowing passengers to choose their preferred language.

  

  

  

  

  

• Save time and money, catch an Uber

  Of all the hop on buses available around the world the Panama one is by far the worst. 2hrs+ between buses, Apps that say the bus is 12min away and then disappears of the map. We managed to catch 2 buses on a 48hr pass and resorted to Uber which is cheaper, faster and more convenient. On our 2nd trip they told us that the last bus of the day was 45min behind us if anyone wanted to get off and then we saw that bus pass us en-route 15min later? The old saying "there's no buses at all and then two come at once" and would strongly suggest people got left behind. With metro tickets costs fifty cents and an Uber around $10 to get around town i wouldn't waste my time nor money in Panama on the hop on bus. We were a family of 3 and would have been much more effective and efficient to do it yourself and make the most of the time than spend 2hrs waiting for a bus that was overpriced and in no way worth it

  Excellent and super fun. I think it's a great and successful educational journey. For the whole family. I would only recommend air conditioning on the first floor part.

  Horrible! Bus never showed up at designated stop. We texted them four times in the hour that we waited and got no response. We applied for a refund and were simply denied. No explanation, nothing. Viator dropped the ball too. I suggest Get Your Guide as a more reliable and consumer friendly vendor.

  The bus had problems the second time around. The bus moved at half of the speed it did first time. It could hardly make it up a hill. The tour guide told me the bus had a problem. I tried to speak to tour Operator who never responded. The tour wasted half of our day because it took twice as long to get to the same place we had driven by earlier that day. The bus felt unsafe as it was moving so slowly that cars would beep their horn. The tour guide also provided almost no information. There is no clear schedule on the stops on the way and you could wait for a long time before another bus arrives. We funded up taking an uber back because something was clearly wrong with The bus.

  We went on this tour. We went around the loop twice. Second time around the bus started having problems. Travelled at only like 25 mph even on the highway. Cars beeped at bus for going down slowly. It was really sort of dangerous. It made the second trip to the locks 2.5 hours versus just one hour the first time. The second time around the tour guide also provided almost no information. I complained to the guide and said something is mechanically wrong with the bus. He agreed, we never took the bus back because we did not trust it. Instead we used an uber. I complained both to Viator and the tour operator while on the bus that there is something wrong with the bus. The hour operator ignored all my chat messages, Viator was apologetic but refused to provide a refund. This tour operator is shady and non responsive and Viator won't help you and just take the operator's word. Terrible company. There is also no real schedule for the stops around the route. If you get off during the tour you won't know exactly when the next bus comes.
