Our mangrove glass bottom kayak & snorkel tour begins at the lovely beach from Lac Cai. The Bonaire Mangrove reserve is located in Lac Bay National Park. Visitors can only enter the mangroves in the company of an experienced nature guide. Your stable, glass bottom sit-on-top kayak is equipped with a comfortable backrest seat, a waterproof bag for your personal belongings and, of course, paddles. Off you go, into the calm waters.
The glass bottom kayak provides an ideal mode of transport in this beautiful and tranquil environment, as you manoeuvre with ease through the mangrove shallows and tunnels.
Gliding by four different species of mangrove trees in crystal-clear waters, paddling past bird habitats and fish spawning areas, you'll learn of the relationship between the plants and the animals. The snorkel location offers a great variety of marine life and is considered by many a must-do while visiting Bonaire!

Unique kayak experience through mangroves, for young and fit people

3.00You have to kayak quite a while in the open (but beautiful blue) water before you get to the mangroves area. Kayaking through the mangroves was definitely a unique experience. There's was no landing area for you to switch off into the snorkeling portion of the excursion so you'll have to jump into the water and then be able to jump back into the kayak by yourself when you're done snorkeling. Therefore, this is recommended for younger and fit people otherwise they won't even recommend you go snorkeling because they can't help you back into the kayak. Even then it's by chance how cloudy the water is to be able to see fish, even the tour guide said she has no control over the clarity of the water for the day.

5.00Note road to beach is not paved, we took a taxi and he said he would not take a fare there again, consider renting a 4x4 vehicle, bumpy ride, not recommended for those who get car sick. Kayaking was fun but definitely took a lot of effort and was a work out! Sights were breath taking, learned a lot about mangroves and Bonaire. It was fun paddling through the tunnels, unique experience. Snorkeling was towards the end of kayaking tour through the mangroves and visibility depended on the day. Plan to stay after the tour to spend time at the beach which is short walk past the restaurants - it’s breath taking, clear water, sandy, no rocks, shallow, warm water, bring a floatie, pack a cooler, I wish I had spent more time there after paying for the taxi ride.

5.00Our family really enjoyed this trip. We booked a trip with transportation, and our guide was waiting to meet us when our cruise ship docked. Our guide, Yuri, made the morning relaxed and fun, and he even stopped to allow us to take photos of the donkeys and flamingos we encountered on the way. His interaction with us was a good mix of education about the mangroves and humorous banter. The kayaking went at a good pace to allow you to examine your surroundings and not exhaust you. The snorkeling in the mangroves is very different than snorkeling along reefs, so that made this very different from any snorkeling trips we’ve taken in the past. The surrounding scenery is absolutely breathtaking. We definitely would recommend this excursion for anyone visiting Bonair who wants a little adventure and wants to experience nature in a way unique to this area. Yuri, we hope your mom enjoys reading this review!

5.00It is a unique experience to drive among and touch the Magrove trees. The water is extremely clear all over the island and the feeling in the tunnels of the tree roots is magnificent. Kayaking is also a lot of fun! The snorkeling was not really necessary, as the whirled up sand was often very bad and the water depth at the open place maximum 1 meter ... There were only the sponges at the roots and a few normal fish, so you should rather snorkel on the beaches if you are concerned about it otherwise a great experience and absolutely worth the money!!

5.00We has a fantastic time with our guide exploring the mangroves of Bonaire, and learned a lot about the history of the area and the importance that mangroves play. What really made it exceptional had nothing to do with the mangroves, but rather the efforts of the staff to retrieve a waterproof camera that became untethered after being strapped to my wife's wrist. It happened in a mangrove channel with a particularly strong amount of churn and current, so visibility was very low. Our guide dove repeatedly up and down the channel in search of it to no avail and I was unsuccessful too. He said that he would notify the afternoon tour and that the churn in that particular area was lower later in the day. Sure enough, we received a message on Whatsapp later that day that they had found it. They even were kind enough to coordinate dropping it off the next morning at our hotel. Being it was our wedding anniversary the day of the tour, the camera contained memories that we are so thankful to have with the retrieval of the camera. The staff went above and beyond in their efforts and it really speaks to the quality of those who work there. So, yes, do the tour for sure and enjoy the mangroves, and double check your camera straps!

5.00Great tour! Stan, our guide, picked us up right on time just a short walk from the cruise terminal. He was an excellent guide - Friendly, funny and very knowledgeable about the island and mangroves. The snorkeling occurs at the tour end and is just a roughly 200 yard round trip swim through a narrow channel in the mangroves. Don't expect the water to be as clear as the photos indicate. Nice small beach for swimming after the tour.
