Its crowded and you have limited time so having a guide to educate you, tell you the history and point out important features is important.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He had a very good sense of humor and made the tour very enjoyable. The pace was comfortable considering the uneven footing. He kept everyone engaged in the tour.

Do not recommend for cruise ship passengers. The logistics and time to get to the experience was a nightmare and we ended up being less than 7 minutes late, missing it all. The tour company would not allow us to join up with the group and were not accomodating or friendly.

Positives: Tour was well-organized, started on time, good introduction to 3 sites. Negatives: Very little time spent on Palatine hill, not allowed to view Circus Maximus or go to balcony that had a vista of the Roman Forum. Also, after finishing the tour at the Coliseum, you had to exit, you could not stay for extra photos or to enjoy the exhibits.
