You may have previously enjoyed the wonderful flavors of West Indian cooking, but do you know the actual ingredients of the dishes or their historic or cultural significance? Regardless of whether you are a seasoned cook or just a lover of tasty cuisine, this cooking demonstration will appeal to you.

After a short drive you will arrive at Fairview Great House & Botanical Garden, a beautifully restored plantation house believed to have been originally built in 1701 by the French. You will be taken to a colonial style room where you would be introduced to the chef who will guide you through the cooking demonstration recounting tales about the history of our Caribbean foods and share old and new recipes and introduce you to locally grown ingredients. Some of the participants will also have the opportunity to assist the chef in her meal preparations and the group can engage with her throughout the culinary experience. You will then partake in the delicious meal that was prepared for you infused with tantalising Caribbean flavours. You get to keep the recipe card so that you can try the recipes at home. After the meal, browse locally hand made handcrafts available for sale at the Great House gift shop and take a stroll through the historic building and take in the beautiful views of the tropical garden and beyond.

So delightful! Views to die for. Chef Shea (hope I spelled her name right) was funny and taught us all about Caribbean cooking as well as made a complete delicious meal! The grounds are beautiful. Enjoyed seeing historic buildings. So glad we did this excursion while on our cruise!

Outstanding experience from start to finish. The magnificent historic plantation house is a perfect setting for learning about the food, history and culture of St Kitts. The guides (driver and chef) are extremely knowledgeable and personable. A nice variety of local dishes that could be replicated at home were prepared for our dining enjoyment. Rum tasting was available and a tour of the house & gardens was a nice addition. There is also a pool on the property that can be enjoyed by guests. Extremely professional staff provided an exceptional experience and meal.

We booked this excellent cooking class as an optional ship’s tour from a Viking cruise. Wonderful experience. Great setup-mirrors over the counter so you can see the work from different angles no matter where you sit. Che is a great chef, and skilled at sharing her take on island cooking traditions. She explains the ingredients and gives links to her recipes. Well worth the time, and you’ll thoroughly enjoy the meal she prepares.

Excellent tour professional friendly happy yummy experience. Love the cooking demonstration it was seamlessly perfect. Chef was very informative and explained everything. The dishes were so amazing and very delicious! Our tour guide Mida we so sweet and helpful. The entire property is in excellent restoration condition. Very clean and organized.

This tour was part of a cruise line shore excursion. Chef Chey did a wonderful job explaining the flavors of the islands while showing off her cooking skills. The end-result lunch and dessert were great! So flavorful! And, she even shared the recipes with anyone interested in trying to recreate the dishes at home. 100% recommend this tour!

Wow! Absolutely awesome. Chef Che and guide Maya really hit it out of the park. The cooking demonstration and meal came with a tour of a sugarcane plantation. The food was awesome. Additionally, I’m excited to attempt to replicate it at home.

Our chef and guide,Che, was amazing. Our family thoroughly enjoyed this 2.5 hr experience in learning about the local cuisine and island history. Che expertly guided us through the preparation of a delicious meal using fresh local ingredients. Her personality is charming and cooking knowledge is superb. Highly recommend!
