It is the second highest volcano in Ecuador with a height of 5897 meters. It is located in the eastern mountain range of the Andes. It is surrounded by other mountains such as Sincholagua, Pasochoa, Rumiñahui, all within the avenue of volcanoes. With its wonderful symmetrical shape, it is an excellence stratovolcano, translated from Quichua into Spanish as the neck of the moon.

Arrival to the southern entrance of the Cotopaxi National Park. • Visit to Interpretacion Center Mariscal. • Arrive to parking Area. • Explanation about volcano /animals/ plants/etc. • Start hiking to Jose Rivas Refugee (4800m). • After a short rest, hikes till the glaciers (5000m).

After the hiking from the Refugio Padre Rivas, We take the Bikes down per approximately 11 km, it is optional to bike to the south Entance of the National park Cotopaxi, in total 22 km of bikes.

5.00Our guide, Pedro, was outstanding. He took care of us from start to finish! We enjoyed hiking Cotopaxi (at our own pace) and then biking down to the pond. Lunch was terrific, as well. We felt safe at all times with Pedro at our side. Highly recommend this tour to others.

4.00Real Dreams (through Viator) guide Ricky provided a fun & professional adventure to Cotopaxi. Timely pick up from the hotel and spoke excellent English. The hike up to the refuge was tough but amazing. So beautiful!!! NP needs to fix the road coming into the park. Ride down was laden with potholes. Would highly recommend.

5.00Wonderful hiking/biking experience with Pedro. Pedro is very knowledgeable about Ecuador and managed to lead both myself (a slow hiker/biker) as well as my 16 year old son (a faster hiker/biker) with ease. Highly recommend!

5.00Amazing experience with Pedro as our guide. Explored Cotopaxi by foot and on bike, hiking up 1000 feet from the parking area to the base lodge and then to the glacier. Altitude reaches 16,225 ft, so advise arriving a few days ahead to the Quito area to acclimate. Pedro was incredibly knowledgable and a fun guide. I was traveling solo with one other in the group. Pedro was great at accommodating our different fitness levels at that altitude. After riding down to the lagoon, we stopped at a small local restaurant for lunch where we experienced a delicious traditional Ecuadorian lunch. You will not be disappointed with this tour!

5.00Top organization. A tour we would recommend to anyone. It felt like Pedro was a friend we have known for years:) super informative, friendly and helpful Pedro waited when there were problems with the altitude air. The journey was very pleasant and we have a wild fox as well as condor to discover. Afterwards we went to the base camp which is beautifully located and invites for a coca tea or a hot chocolate. But my personal highlight came afterwards... Take the mountain bike down the Cotopaxi. Absolutely recommended and a lot of fun. After the lagoon tour there was a delicious lunch to round off the tour which was already included in the price. A super successful tour

5.00Words can barely describe what an amazing day Pedro created for me. He was on time, prepared and was the most knowledgeable tour guide I know of. There literally was not a question he did not know the answer to…. in depth. I expected a good tour but I got a phenomenal tour. If you want a top notch experience, use this Pedro and this company.
