We will work in the middle of the emerald and jewelry cluster of Bogota, one of the leader cities of this kind of industry in south america!

Colombia is known as the coffee country, well, we got much more history linked to the “green gold”. Emeralds are part of the selected group of precious stones and the 60% of them in the world are originally from Colombia. Become part of the Emerald legend, by creating a ring with your own hands. This tour starts by having an introduction about the importance of emeralds for precolonial and colonial culture. We will go through the emerald and jewelry district to learn about the history of the precious metals and stones and its influence in Colombian culture. We will take a look at the emerald market to see the different minerals and qualities. Then we will work on your new ring, where you will decide all! the design, the stone and material, by the personal advisory of a orfebre (jewelry master) who teaches you how to do every single step.

What fun! Definitely something different. We were two teenage boys, two adults. We had fun-- melting, designing, shaping, polishing-- our rings. We appreciated that the jewelers let us do much of the work, but were available and helpful as well. And patient! We all love our truly one of a kind souvenir. We all want to do it again.

This was a wonderful learning experience in the history of gems/metals and the process of creating my ring. Making my own ring was a beautiful experience doing it step by step. It made me appreciate the masters and their art. Anyone wanting to have a hands on experience given by truly talented (and patient) staff, you need to book your lesson! A big Thank You to the staff. I will always have fond memories and a beautiful ring of this experience.

I cannot say enough great things - a great value, a wonderful morning. We worked with Nick as our translator and guide who was informative, helpful and has a great sense of humor. The jewelers are great teachers and very patient. And make no mistake - you are doing the work! I also deeply appreciated how patient and willing everyone was to help me practice my Spanish! It was so fun!!!

A unique opportunity to make your own piece of jewelry under the instruction and supervision of experienced jewelers. It also included a lot of information about the importance of emeralds and gold in Columbia’s history, and a tour of the jewelry and stone markets. Fabulous!
