[10:00] Gather at the parking lot of Michi-no-Eki Mikata Goko (Roadside Station Mikata Five Lakes). [10:10] At the nature and waterfowl observation building, a guide will introduce the unique characteristics of Lake Mikata and traditional fishing methods. [10:30] You will sail out of Mikata Lake on a fishing boat and observe the 400-year-old fishing tradition from the lake. (Eels are caught in tube fishing from spring to fall, and Tataki net fishing are used to catch carp and crucian carp in the winter). [11:30] Arrive at the pier. Enjoy local ingredients with locals and fishermen. [12:00] Disband. After the tour, consider visiting the Fukui Prefectural Varve Museum and the Wakasa Jomon Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the area. (Optional) *It is possible to have an interpreter (English) accompany you after the prior arrangement.
