Disappointing excursion. The village is not authentic. We were greeted with courtesy, we stopped for a snack and the group was animated by music. The camel ride is very short.

A great experience for me and my son, camels were well behaved thankfully, the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We had a laugh too!

We had a nice camel ride and a drink and some flatbread at a "Bedouin Centre", while the camel ride staff were very good and the Bedouin Centre staff were fine, the tour operators were very poor. We were let down by it being Ramadan, various attractions being closed, bad luck and disinterested and disorganised tour operator, or probably a combination of all four. We booked the Bedouin Tour a couple of days before we went on it, originally for 4pm, as we decided this was a better time, being a cooler part of the day. After booking and paying, we were sent a message from Siwar saying that they could only do 10am or 11am because of Ramadan, despite the 3pm and 4pm hours also being advertised. We eventually confirmed for 10am Sunday on Saturday early evening the evening before our visit (at 6:30pm approx), as we didn’t want to miss out on what we thought was going to be a typical Bedouin experience. The Tour operators say they only needed 4 hours notification on their site. We were told to expect taxi number 168 to pick us up at 9:45 outside the hotel. Taxi 033 turned up, said taxi 168 was broken down and offered to take us to quadbiking. We had a long discussion saying we didn’t book quad biking and exchanged texts as shown discussing this issue. We waited for confirmation from the tour operator as we didn't want to get into a random taxi! The taxi driver didn't know the name of the person who booked the tour or where we were going, which we became concerned about. After much to-ing and fro-ing the tour operator confirmed that we could use this taxi and off we went. It seems that there is limited commnication between the tour operator and the taxi company. The taxi driver didn't appear to know exactly where he was going. We stopped outside a train station, then stopped outside a slightly run down farm. They were definitely not expecting us and it didn't look like the usual meeting place. After various phone calls to the tour operator, this turned out to be the right place. They clearly weren't expecting us, so it took them at least 20 minutes to prepare 4 camels. In this time the taxi driver was sent to purchase drinks that were to be given to us on the tour which he bought back in a blue plastic carrier bag which was handed to the camel centre. Once we were on the camel ride, all went reasonably well. The ride was half a mile out and half a mile back along dusty tracks that go past people's houses and some fields. One camel got distracted a few times, and one time the chap missed that the camel walked into a tree, so one of our group got scrapped down her leg, drawing blood. Not the end of the world, but not great. They took lots of photos for us and checked we were ok during the journey. The camel ride staff were very good but there was no tour included, just a ride. The camel ride finished at the Bedouin Centre. The centre was under renovation. We were made welcome to a deserted place which had clearly been opened just for us. We didn't have any live cultural music on arrival. We were however offered traditional, freshly cooked flat bread and drinks (tea and choice of water/coke/Fanta), which was the same purchased earlier by the taxi driver. We were shown the rooms which were being renovated, and not completed, so there wasn't much to see - some nice artwork on the walls, but no spice market, no traditional coffee, no local houses, no artisans, no local trinkets to purchase and no local crafts. They usually open from April after the end of Ramadan (which finishes on 29th March this year, we did the trip on 16th March). Nowhere on the booking was there anything to say this. We then took the camels back to the pickup point, and got the taxi back to the hotel. We enjoyed the camel ride very much, but we're disappointed with the Bedouin Centre, the initial booking and confusion of times, and didn't feel well supported by the tour operator. Attached are messsges exchanged between Siwar from the Tunisia Outdoors tours. Our final message was not answered. We were very disappointed by the experience we were expecting and the experience delivered. Overall it was reasonable for what we paid (£26.xx) per person for 4 people for a 2ish hour experience.

Okay so the description here is misleading. The main part of this experience is the camel ride, which we did not want nor expect. We felt bad for the animals who looked dirty and tired. The faux-bedouin village was nice but no guide to tell us about it, which is a shame. I would've like some facts and information. The semolina bread being baked in the traditional ovens was great and very tasty with olive oil and mint and lemon tea was probably my favourite part. The dance at the end with some traditional instruments was fun too. I honestly would've liked some more traditional bedouin practices and information considering the title of this experience. It is a good price for a morning and something to do in Mahdia. Great if you want to camel ride!

The camel ride itself was fun. Bedouin village is not an actual village, it’s a court where you sit and relax after the camel ride and they serve you bread and a tea and drinks. The tour guides will ask for money a lot during the tour.

While the actual camel ride was amazing. The guides that walk beside you constantly ask you for money rather than wait till the end.
