Learn to dance Samba like a local! No partner or dance experience is required. Get ready to join an immersive experience about Brazilian culture, dance, music, and history! Samba is a Brazilian music genre that originated in the Afro-Brazilian communities of Bahia in the late 19th century. Unfortunately, African cultural manifestations such as Capoeira and Candomblé were viewed with suspicion and criminalized. Samba was no different. But in 100 years it has gone from being a persecuted culture to a symbol of a nation. Samba is now recognized by UNESCO as an "Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity". The class will take place at the first Capoeira School in Brazil - since 1937 - founded by Mestre Bimba, the creator of Capoeira Regional. The school was seen as a great quilombo of resistance, standing firm in the resourcefulness of cultural elements in the city of Salvador, and has been highly respected ever since.

5.00Fun class. You will get a workout. It helps if you already have some movement, flexibility, and good knees. The instructor was amazing, and it helped that there was a male instructor available for the guys. Enjoyable. Just pair this up with your tour of the area instead of going back to the hotel.

She made the class fun, accessible, and meaningful by breaking down the steps clearly and sharing the cultural roots of samba. By the end, we felt more confident, connected, and inspired. 5.00Excelent class!! We were taught the history of Samba, and the basic moves, with some advanced progressions if we were feeling brave. Yasmin speaks great english so communication was very easy!! Definitely worth it if you're visiting Salvador.

5.00Learning samba was a delight. My boyfriend and I attended this class. We liked the explanation of the culture in addition to the dance moves and would definitely return for capoeira or drumming lessons. Everyone was professional and kind.

5.00So much fun. Our teacher was so knowledgeable about the history f the region and samba which added to the experience. By the end f the class everyone had enough moves to be able to dance and share in the passion. Highly recommended.
