  I highly recommend Life in Loja for any tours or information you need while visiting the Loja area. We are from the United States and speak very little english. This was not a problem as Jonathon the owner/operator speaks fluent english/spanish. We felt very safe which was also very important to us in Ecuador. Jonathan is very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all of our questions and pointed out many facts we were not aware of during our trip. He communicates well and responds quickly. He even helped us locate an amazing hotel in Zamora that I would have never found myself. Thank you for an amazing time in Podocarpus/Zamora. He speaks English and translates what others are saying in a very respectful manner plus he is very knowledgeable. Also, if you look at his website - he has all the essential services to support your needs and questions. I can't emphasize taking advantage of this enough.   Jona was a wonderful guide and we did a private tour. We had to book directly through his WhatsApp because it wouldn’t let us book on trip advisor. We got to see great views of the Amazon including waterfalls, a tour of a beautiful farm, local fruit and drinks, parrots, and the center of Zamora. Not only was the tour beautiful but Jona was very informative and told us about the history and culture of Ecuador. Couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. I highly recommend this tour if you’re interested in seeing the Amazon. In all it was a very good price for a customizable tour. Our experience was very special.   Jonathan is an exceptional guide. He provided an excellent historical overview to the development and culture in Loja. His explanations were thorough. He answered all of our questions thoroughly. We were unfamiliar with the founding of Loja and the beginning of liberal education and so many other things. We learned so much about the churches that we did not know. At the end of our tour, Jonathan arranged a coffee tasting that was excellent. We did not know that coffees had so many unique characteristics, aromas, and elements. After tasting two very different coffees, we now see the difference of specialty coffees. We have a whole new appreciation for coffee.

  Jonathan was an excellent tour guide there were two of us as a couple I didn't know Spanish and my partner didn't know English and Jonathan was able to take the time to explain everything in both languages. Hey organized the walking tour with so much information and history as well as timing the driver to pick us up to take us to the next venue of this tour several times.

  I did the two-day Cultural + Neighborhoods tours with Life in Loja, and it was exactly what I needed. The first day focused on Loja’s historical and cultural foundations—its colonial origins, churches, plazas, and civic spaces. Jonathan presented these sites in a historically grounded, coherent way that helped me understand how Loja evolved and why it functions as it does today. During the cultural tour, Jonathan paid close attention to my lifestyle, priorities, and how I actually plan to live day-to-day. By the second day, the Neighborhoods tour was highly targeted. We explored areas that aligned with my needs—walkability, light, green space, noise levels, and daily rhythms. As a result, I was able to identify and secure a perfect apartment. I highly recommend Life in Loja to anyone considering a visit or extended stay and wanting to work with an experienced, knowledgeable, and professional guide like Jonathan.

  I would recommend Life in Lisha to anyone who wants to learn more about the culture and amenities that Loja has to offer. My husband and I are interested in relocating to Loja. We wanted a realistic look at the culture, the town, and daily life. Jonas gave us such great insight into Loja because he grew up in Loja and knows his home. He is professional and knowledgeable. He is fluent in English so he was to answer our questions in detail. We did 3 tours. The Expat Tour and the Namada Falls hike. Our last one was a full day tour to Podocarpus National Park, Zamora, and Hostería Arenal. Life in Loja is your go to for tours in Loja. His knowledge of the area was invaluable.   My wife and I have been traveling in southern Ecuador looking for a potential new place to settle. We went on a city/cultural tour with Life in Loja. The information was excellent and the tour gave us a much clearer picture of what Life in Loja could be for us. We enjoyed Jonathan’s tour so much we hired him for two additional tours.
