  I went on this amazingly educational and historical walking tour with Jonathan. He shared so much information about the history of Loja, the country of Ecuador and the culture and people here! I highly recommend it if you are in Loja! Thank you for everything Jonathan. You are a very kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable man! I will be planning more tours with you in the future!   Jonathan provided a beautiful tour of his city and was kind enough to answer questions about Ecuadorian culture. He has a very attentive and respectful. The tour was just the right length to introduce us to the area so that we felt comfortable walking around on our own. His English is excellent.

  We loved the two tours we took with Jonathan! Our first day in Loja, we took the 2-hour walking tour of Loja and learned so much: the history of the city, places to eat and drink, and lots of interesting stories about the city. The next day, we took Jonathan's tour of Saraguro and several Indigenous communities. It was absolutely fascinating. We visited a weaving workshop, an Indigenous brewer, a market, and had an AMAZING lunch. Jonathan was a great tour guide and had planned a perfect day. I highly recommend!

  We only had a short time in Loja, but through our hotel we booked a special after dark tour that we truly enjoyed and found very informative! We chanced upon a religious procession as well as an indigenous dance group. There’s no telling what you might find, but just wandering around the streets with a knowledgeable local guide at night was a fascinating experience.

  Jonathan was excellent. He is very knowledgeable about Loja and its history. He was very good about distinguishing between the truth and historical myths that Lojans are told.

  We contacted Jonathon at the last minute. We were in Cuenca and wanted to see Loja and in particular the local coffee scene. We also like hiking. He quickly responded and provided us a wonderful 3 day customized itinerary. He is a wonderful tour guide. We spent most of one day learning so much about Loja. A city we barely had on our radar is now a must see when we talk to our friends. On the same day he took us on a hike to a beautiful waterfall. On day two, Jona arranged a tour and tasting at a coffee farm near Vilcambaba and a tour of the village as well. Jona then arranged a trip, on day three, around our difficult flight times, at Saraguro, also a delight. Jona spent hours after a long day visiting coffee houses in Loja so we could buy the best Ecuador had to offer before we went home. We are not a big fan of tours, would rather feel the place on our own, but Jona allowed us to do that in a fashion that would have taken several weeks in 3 days. I will b recommending Jona and Loja to any of our friends travelling to Ecuador.

  My brother was planning to move from the US to Loja based on research and we travelled together to Ecuador for him to get to know Loja and be sure it met his needs and expectations. Jonathan was able to accommodate us last minutes for a cultural walking tour and a tour of the best neighborhoods to live. It was so informative and helpful my brother asked Jonathan to find him an apartment and he gave us a referral to an English speaking attorney to handle immigration paperwork. In a span of 5 days my brother met with the attorney, signed an apartment lease and learned an amazing amount about his soon-to-be new home. Aside from being articulate and knowledgeable, Jonathan is a great human being. I look forward to annual trips back to Ecuador to visit my brother and plan to book an excursion every time with Jonathan.

  We had a mixed walking and driving tour of Loja's culture and neighborhoods over two days. Jona showed us beautiful historic churches, vibrant markets for fresh food and flowers, locally grown and award-winning coffee, views, history, and fun local food! We also saw what it is like to live in different areas of Loja and the pros and cons of each, and enjoyed that there is such a variety of options. I would travel with Jona as a guide again! The city is even prettier than my photos show because we had some clouds and rain. Trust others' photos for a pretty sunny day.

  To learn about Loja, I contacted LifeinLoja to arrange a customized city tour. For 5 hours, Jonathan and I visited markets, museums, churches, squares, galleries, and houses in the downtown area. Then I enjoyed a private coffee tasting at the Kaweh coffee shop. Their beans consistently earn international coffee competition awards, as their trophies on display prove. Jonathan provided an excellent orientation to history, culture, and life in Loja, personalized to my particular interests. I highly recommend Jonathan's services.   Walking through the center of Loja and immersing yourself in its streets was one of the best activities I could plan during my trip. Loja is a city full of art, culture and history in every corner, without a doubt a worthwhile destination. I highly recommend the city tour with Jonathan, a person passionate about culture and his work, who will be in charge of making the tour an exceptional experience.
