Cruise Terminal Le Havre
Your journey begins with a seamless pick-up in Le Havre, where an experienced guide will meet you at the cruise port or your hotel. Le Havre, strategically located on the Normandy coast, played a crucial role during World War II as a vital logistical hub for the Allied forces during the planning and execution of the D-Day invasion. As you depart from Le Havre, your guide will provide a brief introduction to the region’s significance and the heroic efforts of the Allied troops who fought to liberate Europe from Nazi occupation. The drive to the first destination sets the stage for the profound historical experience that awaits at the D-Day Landing sites.
Cimetiere Militaire Allemand de La Cambe
At the German Cemetery, a distinct narrative of the D-Day events awaits you. Set against tranquil surroundings, this solemn site commemorates the sacrifices made by all parties involved in the conflict. The Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and pationate about the events that happens during and after World War 2. As a Retired US Combat Veteran who sevd during (3) US wars, he had my full undivided attention the ENTIRE trip. At some of the stops he catered individually to some of the other members of the group to answer their questions and show them areas that were of interest and importance to them. I recommend this trip to any person who served or RESPECTS the service of EVERYONE who fought, lived and died during the war. If he owned a private tour company, I would hire him on the spot. Hopefully in the future, I can get some of my military buddies to come back over here to experience what I did with this Tour Guide.

This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Bert, brought us back to 1944 with stories and pictures from the time. At each stop we were given an appropriate amount of information of what we were seeing and frequently were given a story of real people and what they went through. My uncle survived the invasion of Normandy and I went through quite a few tissues when we got to Omaha beach, but even if you don’t have a personal connection, you are very likely to become emotional. The sacrifice and the bravery of those soldiers was incredible. This tour was one of the best I have been on and cannot recommend it more highly.

Ash was one of the best tour guides we ever had!! By visiting the German Cemetery in addition to the other regular places, it brought a perspective no other tour can provide. Ash showed us Hope even amidst such tragedy. His knowledge of the area and the war was extensive. We highly recommend the tour thru Viator!!

Excellent tour, our guide, Bert, was very knowledgeable and gave testimonials of actual events and people involved in D-day. Lunch was delicious and with a large ham and cheese baguette, chips, macaroons and a bottle of water. We had a good amount of time at each of the stops and returned to the ship with plenty of time to spare. A great and memorable tour!

We did this tour from a cruise ship independent of the cruise line. The directions to meeting point and staff with large signs were immediately outside the gate. The coach was excellent, clean and comfortable. Our guide Bertrand is native to Normandy and is very informative and passionate about the D-Day experience you will have. Personal stories of the experiences of those who landed on the beaches June 6 will add a unique perspective a really bring the experience to life. This is by far one of the best off ship tour experiences I have had. There was plenty of time at our stops, lunch was nice and we were back to the port in plenty of time , and ahead of the cruise excursion buses. This was 1/2 the cost of the ship excursion and in talking with other passengers we had a far better experience and a native to the area guide whose family was directly involved in the WW2 conflict. Bertrand the guide was great at reinforcing how much time we had at each stop and making sure it was clear to everyone the time to be back on the coach. If you have mobility issues do not take this tour. It is a lot of walking!!
