Depending on when your flight arrived, you will even have some time to explore Amman by yourself. Amman is Jordan’s capital, and one of the oldest cities in the world. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, the city has grown into a modern city with all that you might expect. At 7:30 am right after breakfast, the group will be picked up from the hotel in Amman. The drive from Amman to the starting point of the trek takes about 2.5 hours – time to get to know your fellow hikers or to take a nap. Our trekking journey starts with hiking through the diverse landscapes of the Dana Biosphere Reserve. The reserve includes four distinct ecozones thus accommodating an astonishing diversity of plants, birds, and other animals. First, we’ll follow a trail along the mountains overlooking Dana Valley, and then descend into al Khashasha Valley A wilderness campsite awaits us on the outskirts of the valley Overnight: Wilderness Camping in Mansoura Time: 5-7 hrs Hiking Distance: 15 Km Ascent: 260m Descent: 690 m

Well rested, we will leave the campsite in the early morning, and head towards Furon. Today‘s hike is challenging but extremely rewarding We will start ascending through the mountains for approximately an hour before getting a glimpse of the beautiful Sharah Mountains and the wide Wadi Araba Desert. That outstanding view will accompany you all the way to your campsite in Al Furon Enjoy a cup of tea and the great view from the campsite while passing the time until your well-earned dinner. Today’s hike leads past Ras Al-Feid and towards Ghbour Whedat, through some of the country’s wildest corners. Contouring the Sharah Mountains, we follow a trail comprised of smaller, connecting Bedouin shepherd paths. The bare peeks of black, rugged mountains overlooking the trail, and the precipitous drops of the canyons below make this part of the trek spectacular. Gradually climbing up the hills, you will uncover more spectacular views over the barren desert below. Then, as you proceed towards the wilderness campsite, the landscape slowly becomes softer, with mushroom-like rock formations lining the way. After yesterday’s very remote hike, we will see signs of increasing human habitation while approaching Little Petra today. Passing Bedouin camps, sheep pens, and small agricultural plots you can gain an impression of the living environment of part of Jordan’s population. We will also pass the first Nabataean ruins, including wine and olive presses, aqueducts, and other ancient water infrastructures. Finally, we will climb up through a canyon walled with soft sandstone rocks, and then down a narrow, steep flight of stairs into Little Petra. The site, also known as Siq al-Barid (Engl. the Cold Canyon), is believed by archaeologists to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra and was probably meant to house traders traveling along the Silk Road. After some time to explore, we’ll head on to our home for the night – hot showers are waiting! Overnight: Bedouin Camp near Little Petra Hiking Distance: 14Km Ascent: 610m Descent: 560m

After breakfast it's time to start your hike. Enter Petra via ‘The Back Door’ avoiding most of the tourists. Good tracks go pleasantly down Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains guarding the approaches to Petra. This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view, where there is a Bedouin café for refreshments if you would like. Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra; through which the route goes before exiting past ‘The Treasury’ and though the famous ‘Petra Siq’ to the shops, cafés and hotels of Wadi Musa. After a relaxed breakfast, we leave the mountains of Petra behind and move on to Wadi Rum. Are you ready for a desert adventure?! We will meet our Bedouin hosts and set out on a 4×4 jeep safari to explore valleys and narrow gorges, discover ancient rock inscriptions, climb sand dunes and rock bridges, and generally enjoy the majestic desert landscape. At each step, you have the opportunity to hike, scramble and explore at your own pace. After viewing one of the most magical sunsets in the world, we’ll return to our camp for, dinner, an experience of the famous Bedouin hospitality, a night under the starlit sky, and – of course – countless cups of tea. Today, we will leave the desert and proceed to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. You can spend some time floating in the salty waters, try out the ‘magical’ Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or pamper yourself with some spa treatments – the perfect cure if your legs are still tired and sore from all the hiking. In the late afternoon, we will hop on the bus for the last time, and follow the long, winding road up to Amman – to return to where the adventure began. Overnight: Hotel in Amman

Sadly, all great things must come to an end. For those flying out already, it is generally recommended to leave Amman at least 4 hours prior to your departure. We wish you a safe flight, and hope you will return back home with many wonderful memories of your time in Jordan! End of services.

5.00I had the pleasure of joining the Dana to Petra trek in April of 2026. Even though it was during tensions in the middle East our guide, Motaz and the Experience Jordan crew was able to make us feel safe. My recommendations goes out to our guide, Motaz and Experience Jordan Adventures and Jordan, as a country. It offers such beauty, variations in the landscape and great hospitality from all I've met during my two weeks in the country.

5.00I’ve been holding abroad for 35 years and this Rae’s as one of my very best experiences. Experience Jordan were excellent; well organised, flexible, and friendly. The office staff, drives and camp staff were great. The star of the show, and the cherry on the cake, was our guide Mahmood. We was not only a loverly man, and so friendly, but an excellent guide; knowledgeable and passionate about the geology, history, flora and fauna, and the peoples of the amazing country try we were hiking through. Fantastic.

5.00We had great time in Jordan with Experience Jordan Adventures from the patient assistance and reassurance of Shushan in the office to our kind and highly capable guide Motaz for whom nothing was too much trouble.. We honestly have not felt safer and more welcome in a country we have visited. The landscapes, kind people and varied activities of this Jordan adventure make this a highly rewarding trip and the trekking high above the Jordan valley is world class and on good paths, ending in the jewel of Petra. The flexibilty to stay in a refuge instead of camping in the rain was appreciated ! Food throughout was wholesome and plentiful. We were lucky on this trip to be in a small group which made us very flexible. Logistics were perfectly organised. Come to Jordan, it is wonderful !

5.00My boyfriend and I highly recommend this tour as it combines all the (tourist) highlights of this country with the added bonus of hiking. The hike took us through beautiful scenery and desolate landscapes. During the hike, we were welcomed by a hospitable local Bedouin family, who cooked delicious meals for us, provided sleeping accommodations and made sure we had everything we needed. We were immersed in their culture; we spent an evening dancing and singing around a campfire. What an incredibly enjoyable evening! Our 9-day trip was organised down to the last detail by our guide, Motaz Zghoul. His infectious enthusiasm, impressive knowledge and, let's not forget, his fantastic smile, were the icing on the cake. The last day of our tour marked the beginning of a period of geopolitical instability in the Middle East, but Motaz put us at ease. Even after the end of our trip, he made sure we were okay and that we could always reach out to him if we needed anything. Because we went at the end of February, which marks the beginning of the tourist season, there were few tourists and the daytime temperatures were pleasant for walking. The only downside is that it is a bit colder at night; bringing a sleeping bag is recommended, but fortunately the local family had provided extra blankets. Jordan is a beautiful country, an underrated gem, and the hospitality of its people makes Jordan a jewel that is definitely worth visiting.

5.00I've been on a few group trips now and I can safely say this is one of my absolute favourites. I can't fault anything. Jordan is an amazing country with beautiful hikes and scenery. The people were amazing and everyone we met and interacted with was super nice, helpful and welcoming. I also can't recommend Motaz our guide enough. He's an amazing guy and really made this trip special. He is so caring and even when thing in neighboring countries got a bit harry he went out of his was to support everyone and make sure everyone had a great end to the trip.

5.00We found Experience Jordan an excellent company to book our holiday. All the planning and administration was excellent and efficient. We loved the hiking and wilderness camping. Our guide Motaz Zghoul was outstanding. He speaks perfect English, his knowledge and passion for Jordanian history and heritage is endless and he has a lovely sense of humour. He really made our trip so successful. We had a lovely group of young internationals and we all enjoyed the experience and each other’s company. Food was good and plentiful throughout. The balance of hiking and hotels worked very well. We extended our stay due to the attacks and the staff at Toledo Hotel were very helpful and kind. This holiday exceeded our expectations and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommended.

From day one, he made sure everyone had a smile on their face and created a warm, positive atmosphere within the group. He was incredibly helpful, always thinking ahead and constantly looking out for us. What truly sets him apart is how he combines great energy and humor with a strong sense of safety and responsibility, clearly shaped by his military background. We always felt safe, supported, and completely able to enjoy the journey. We had an amazing trip and would tour with Motaz again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

5.00This trip was amazing. The hike was next level and felt like another world. The camps each night were awesome but especially night three in the middle of epic rock faces. Mortaz was an incredible guide. He always made sure we were all ok and kept together as a group. He also shared a lot of interesting information throughout the trek and in Petra.

5.00From start to end this trip was everything I hoped it would be and more. It is the hospitality of the country, of our guide Motaz and everyone else involved that made is so so easy to immediately dive into this experience. The surroundings were absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere in the group just great! I am back home now, and I am homesick for those views of the sun setting behind the mountains while the fire is burning and delicious food is being served while we tell each other stories 🙏🏻
