At 7:30 am right after breakfast, the group will be picked up from the hotel in Amman. The drive from Amman to the starting point of the trek takes about 2.5 hours – time to get to know your fellow hikers or to take a nap. Our trekking journey starts with hiking through the diverse landscapes of the Dana Biosphere Reserve. The reserve includes four distinct ecozones thus accommodating an astonishing diversity of plants, birds, and other animals. First, we’ll follow a trail along the mountains overlooking Dana Valley, and then descend into al Khashasha Valley A wilderness campsite awaits us on the outskirts of the valley Overnight: Wilderness Camping in Mansoura Time: 5-7 hrs Hiking Distance: 15 Km Ascent: 260m Descent: 690 m

Well rested, we will leave the campsite in the early morning, and head towards Furon. Today‘s hike is challenging but extremely rewarding We will start ascending through the mountains for approximately an hour before getting a glimpse of the beautiful Sharah Mountains and the wide Wadi Araba Desert. That outstanding view will accompany you all the way to your campsite in Al Furon Enjoy a cup of tea and the great view from the campsite while passing the time until your well-earned dinner. Today’s hike leads past Ras Al-Feid and towards Ghbour Whedat, through some of the country’s wildest corners. Contouring the Sharah Mountains, we follow a trail comprised of smaller, connecting Bedouin shepherd paths. The bare peeks of black, rugged mountains overlooking the trail, and the precipitous drops of the canyons below make this part of the trek spectacular. Gradually climbing up the hills, you will uncover more spectacular views over the barren desert below. Then, as you proceed towards the wilderness campsite, the landscape slowly becomes softer, with mushroom-like rock formations lining the way. After yesterday’s very remote hike, we will see signs of increasing human habitation while approaching Little Petra today. Passing Bedouin camps, sheep pens, and small agricultural plots you can gain an impression of the living environment of part of Jordan’s population. We will also pass the first Nabataean ruins, including wine and olive presses, aqueducts, and other ancient water infrastructures. Finally, we will climb up through a canyon walled with soft sandstone rocks, and then down a narrow, steep flight of stairs into Little Petra. The site, also known as Siq al-Barid (Engl. the Cold Canyon), is believed by archaeologists to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra and was probably meant to house traders traveling along the Silk Road. After breakfast it's time to start your hike. Enter Petra via ‘The Back Door’ avoiding most of the tourists. Good tracks go pleasantly down Wadi Ghurab amidst sandstone mountains guarding the approaches to Petra. This way follows a Nabataean route out of the valley and skirting round the final mountain on a natural rock terrace which has been ‘improved’ for the safety of walkers. Even so, it still narrows slightly before reaching a hidden plateau high above the impressive chasm of Wadi Siyyagh. Just beyond, carved into the cliff face, ‘The Monastery’ suddenly comes into view, where there is a Bedouin café for refreshments if you would like. Nabataean steps then lead down into ancient Petra; through which the route goes before exiting past ‘The Treasury’ and though the famous ‘Petra Siq’ to the shops, cafés and hotels of Wadi Musa. After a relaxed breakfast, we leave the mountains of Petra behind and move on to Wadi Rum. Are you ready for a desert adventure?! We will meet our Bedouin hosts and set out on a 4×4 jeep safari to explore valleys and narrow gorges, discover ancient rock inscriptions, climb sand dunes and rock bridges, and generally enjoy the majestic desert landscape. At each step, you have the opportunity to hike, scramble and explore at your own pace. After viewing one of the most magical sunsets in the world, we’ll return to our camp for, dinner, an experience of the famous Bedouin hospitality, a night under the starlit sky, and – of course – countless cups of tea. Today, we will leave the desert and proceed to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. You can spend some time floating in the salty waters, try out the ‘magical’ Dead Sea mud, relax by the pool, or pamper yourself with some spa treatments – the perfect cure if your legs are still tired and sore from all the hiking. In the late afternoon, we will hop on the bus for the last time, and follow the long, winding road up to Amman – to return to where the adventure began. Overnight: Hotel in Amman

5.00My boyfriend and I highly recommend this tour as it combines all the (tourist) highlights of this country with the added bonus of hiking. The hike took us through beautiful scenery and desolate landscapes. During the hike, we were welcomed by a hospitable local Bedouin family, who cooked delicious meals for us, provided sleeping accommodations and made sure we had everything we needed. We were immersed in their culture; we spent an evening dancing and singing around a campfire. What an incredibly enjoyable evening! Our 9-day trip was organised down to the last detail by our guide, Motaz Zghoul. His infectious enthusiasm, impressive knowledge and, let's not forget, his fantastic smile, were the icing on the cake. The last day of our tour marked the beginning of a period of geopolitical instability in the Middle East, but Motaz put us at ease. Even after the end of our trip, he made sure we were okay and that we could always reach out to him if we needed anything. Because we went at the end of February, which marks the beginning of the tourist season, there were few tourists and the daytime temperatures were pleasant for walking. The only downside is that it is a bit colder at night; bringing a sleeping bag is recommended, but fortunately the local family had provided extra blankets. Jordan is a beautiful country, an underrated gem, and the hospitality of its people makes Jordan a jewel that is definitely worth visiting.

5.00I've been on a few group trips now and I can safely say this is one of my absolute favourites. I can't fault anything. Jordan is an amazing country with beautiful hikes and scenery. The people were amazing and everyone we met and interacted with was super nice, helpful and welcoming. I also can't recommend Motaz our guide enough. He's an amazing guy and really made this trip special. He is so caring and even when thing in neighboring countries got a bit harry he went out of his was to support everyone and make sure everyone had a great end to the trip.

5.00We found Experience Jordan an excellent company to book our holiday. All the planning and administration was excellent and efficient. We loved the hiking and wilderness camping. Our guide Motaz Zghoul was outstanding. He speaks perfect English, his knowledge and passion for Jordanian history and heritage is endless and he has a lovely sense of humour. He really made our trip so successful. We had a lovely group of young internationals and we all enjoyed the experience and each other’s company. Food was good and plentiful throughout. The balance of hiking and hotels worked very well. We extended our stay due to the attacks and the staff at Toledo Hotel were very helpful and kind. This holiday exceeded our expectations and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommended.

From day one, he made sure everyone had a smile on their face and created a warm, positive atmosphere within the group. He was incredibly helpful, always thinking ahead and constantly looking out for us. What truly sets him apart is how he combines great energy and humor with a strong sense of safety and responsibility, clearly shaped by his military background. We always felt safe, supported, and completely able to enjoy the journey. We had an amazing trip and would tour with Motaz again without hesitation. Highly recommended!

5.00This trip was amazing. The hike was next level and felt like another world. The camps each night were awesome but especially night three in the middle of epic rock faces. Mortaz was an incredible guide. He always made sure we were all ok and kept together as a group. He also shared a lot of interesting information throughout the trek and in Petra.

It is the hospitality of the country, of our guide Motaz and everyone else involved that made is so so easy to immediately dive into this experience. The surroundings were absolutely stunning, and the atmosphere in the group just great! I am back home now, and I am homesick for those views of the sun setting behind the mountains while the fire is burning and delicious food is being served while we tell each other stories 🙏🏻

5.00My husband and I booked the trek and it was brilliant and exceeded our expectations. We had a very good young group, and a fantastic guide. The scenery was breathtaking, food plentiful and delicious. Wilderness camping an experience worth doing. We loved walking into Petra and Wadi Rum was incredible. We highly recommend this adventure and we will keep the memories for ever.

5.00We hiked through remote mountains, crossed wide open terrain, and visited historical sites. What made the journey special was not only what we saw, but how these places were brought to life through stories, context, and shared experience. Our guide, Furat Mai, played a central role in that. Through daily conversations along the trail and beside the campfire, I gained a much deeper understanding of rich history and culture as well as the way local communities live their everyday lives. His passion for sharing knowledge, combined with openness and respect, turned trekking into meaningful learning experiences. Equally memorable was the hospitality of the Bedouin support team arranged by the company. Their warmth and generosity were constant there. During long hikes, our local guide would stop to make tea for us, turning simple rest breaks into moments of connection. At other times, he demonstrated how gunpowder and organic soap could be made using natural materials picked up along the trail. These unscripted moments offered rare insight into a fascinating heritage and daily life, and made the experience feel deeply authentic. Evenings spent camping under the open sky became some of my favorite moments of the trip. Sharing delicious dinners prepared by the Bedouin team, surrounded by silence and stars, created a sense of calm and camaraderie that is hard to describe and even harder to forget. One unforgettable highlight was the Jeep ride through Wadi Rum. Moving through the vast desert as a group, with endless horizons stretching in every direction, I felt an overwhelming sense of space and scale. At times it felt like flying through a movie set; at others, like landing on another planet. The immensity and openness of the landscape left a lasting impression on all of us. Looking back, I feel genuinely fortunate to have been part of this journey. It combined physical challenge with cultural depth, thoughtful guiding, and remarkable hospitality. I would wholeheartedly recommend trips planned and provided by Experience Jordan Adventures to anyone seeking an adventure that is both enriching and unforgettable. Yallah—let’s go.

5.00I really enjoyed this tour by Experience Jordan Adventures. The hiking was challenging but rewarding. The desert scenery was spectacular and when we finally arrived into Petra we entered through a sparsely used back door and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. From the moment we arrived our hosts took excellent care of us; scheduling was flawless and every detail was addressed. Even when rain and winds required us to modify plans, our hosts readjusted on the fly to create a seamless and memorable trip. And the legendary hospitality of our Bedouin hosts made every evening camping outdoors, feel like an evening at home with friends. Special thanks to our guide Motaz Zghoul - Motaz is fun, passionate, Incredibly knowledgeable and continuously went the extra mile to ensure we were safe, well cared for and having fun. I cannot recommend this trip enough. Come to Jordan and you will have the time of your life
