A scenic drive takes you to the beautiful Danube Bend.
One of the most scenic locations along the Danube is its curve in northern Hungary, an area of verdant hills dotted with historical towns and villages. Your first stop takes you to the Esztergom Basilica—one of the largest churches in the world. We cross the river and the border to Slovakia to have a stunning view from the opposite side.
Continue to Visegrád Castle Hill and take in spectacular views of lush hills and the curve of the river at a panoramic point. Sit back and relax in a nearby restaurant and have a 3-course Hungarian lunch with mineral water before moving on.
Arrive in the delightful baroque town of Szentendre. Walk the enchanting cobbled streets lined by art galleries, craft shops, and cafés.
Return to central Budapest by a riverboat during the summer season (between 1st May - 27th September and only Friday-Saturday-Sunday) or in the comfort of your heated bus in winter.

Claire was a very good tour guide. My only suggestion is to spend less time on lunch and more time on the final town.

I had a great day on the Danube Bend tour. It was a somewhat large group, with both Italian and English spoken, but our guide was impressive at speaking both fluently. The stop in Esztergom was great, even on Easter Sunday. I really appreciated the time to walk around on our own (or to stick with the guide if you wanted!). And I loved the quick stop over in Slovakia, with a view of Esztergom over the Danube. I wish we’d been able to tour the castle in Visegrad, but I think it might’ve been closed because of the holiday. Lunch at the top was still nice, especially the view. Szentendre was unsurprisingly busy, but we had free range to roam about on our own, so I loved my time walking up through the quiet, hilly residential parts of town. Lovely architecture, gardening, and cats! In all, I felt like I got a great “slice” of different parts of the Danube Bend area. It was also a nice diversion from doing things in Budapest; it broke my trip up nicely.
