The Făgăraș Mountains, part of the Southern Carpathians, rise majestically in the heart of Romania, offering spectacular alpine landscapes.
Here lies Moldoveanu Peak, the highest point in Romania (2544m), surrounded by sharp ridges and clear glacial lakes such as Bâlea Lake.
Crossing the mountains, here you could see the famous Transfăgărășan route, witch is one of the most spectacular mountain roads in the world. Often called “the road to the sky’’, it connects the regions of Argeș and Sibiu. Built in the 1970s as a strategic military route, it stretches about 90 km and reaches a maximum altitude of 2,042 meters at Balea Lake.

This was a fun challenging hike with a little rock scrambling at the top. Our guide, Narcis, was knowledgeable about the mountains and Romania. He was very kind and patient.
