  Really enjoyed this walk, it’s steep uphill in places but overall not super difficult. Some of the views are stunning and walking through the forest was a highlight. Didn’t see any other tourists on the hike so felt like it was off the trodden path. Ssyam was a great guide, very kind and interesting, providing a lot of background on the background of different Nepali castes. Overall very enjoyable!

  Choosing Royal Mountain Travel has been the biggest blessing of my 7 day Nepal Stay! After traveling to 45+ countries I can honestly say this is one of the most authentic cultural experience I have ever had, in any country. I walked into their office and met my wonderful travel agent Sabita on day 2 of travel, gave her a fixed budget and she made the best out of it. When my trip to Pokhara was cancelled due to weather, I was immediately rebooked with a monastery trip on the same day with adjusted itinerary, so I didn’t feel bored. Every day Sabita made sure I have a full day of itinerary at my request. My driver Guvinda speaks very good English which made my pick up very easy (I stayed at a very difficult area), he was able to pick up/drop off at my place of request without issues. Always came to work with a smile. Cared for my safety. My guide for 2 days, Anup was very knowledgeable and patient with me. All around a good guy! We are at the best Newari places at very fair price. My office agent Kabindra is also very patient when working with me. My cooking class was hosted by one of the senior guide’s wife Saveena and we had such a good time visiting local markets and just talking about life. Oh did I mention my mask painting class, wood carving class and my Everest mountain flight? 10/10 will chose this honest travel agency again. If there’s 10 stars I’d honestly give it to them.   The views were amazing, we took many photos during the hike,. The top was to see also the rodhodendron flower. Very nice guide

  My wife and I enjoyed this wonderful hike with our tour guide Raj. Raj was very professional and friendly. He gave us plenty of time to stop and take photos. He explained the area, the plants, everything round us. He is very knowledgeable and speak very good English. He treated us to tea and went out of his way to give us the most wonderful experience during this hike. We’re planning to do other hikes with this company and Raj. Bravo!

  It was a lovely hike with a very nice friendly guide, thank you! We hiked for about 3h and then had lunch at local homestay, and also visited the Panauti historical centre real quick, I loved it all, nice experience

  This was my first hiking experience in Nepal, and I highly recommend it. The guide was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable. You work up a good appetite on the hike, before being treated to an amazing lunch at a homestay. A real experience.

  Great trip! The hike is lovely, but having a few extra days to explore the Community Homestay program on my own at the end was incredibly special and gave me a slower, calmer perspective that was critical to my understanding and love of Nepal. I was able to experience two different homestay families in Panauti and I felt blessed for it. And my goodness! The food! Honestly, I had some good food in Nepal, but what I had at the homestays, cooked by the women/mothers, was absolutely spectacular. Language was a lot easier than I anticipated actually, because there's always someone from the younger generation around that speaks English. It's amazing to get to experience such an ancient culture that's so alive today, and the way to do it is not to visit as many temples as possible, go stay with a family, it's such a treat. Also, ask about the Nagarkot homestay, it's a lot simpler in many ways and more remote, but it was one of my favs, total cultural immersion.

  I travelled with RMT to Nepal on a unique trip focused on their incredible community homestay program. We were lead by an amazing national guide, whose depth of knowledge about Nepal, good humor, and trip facilitation skills made him one of the best guides I have ever had. He and RMT ensured our trip was not only seamless logistically, but that we had diverse opportunities to experience true Nepali culture. Whether hiking in the middle of beautiful hilltops, or sharing a meal with our host family, or visiting ancient temples, each part of our tour was planned with thoughtfulness, creativity, and professionalism. And they ensured the food was good to boot! The community homestay program they have grown, is a really valuable an authentic way to experience Nepal as well. Welcoming host families, comfortable accommodations, and conversations and activities you won't have anywhere else! Thank you for an amazing experience!

  What a lovely hike! Starting in the shadow if the biggest statue of Shiva that's perched on the hill at Sanga, we took the trail that went up. Not very steep, the first part of the way is upwards. It wasn't long before we reached the top of the hill where we were supposed to get some tremendous views. However, the late monsoon and cloudy weather meant that we didn't see the promised panoramic views. I have been in this corner of the Kathmandu Valley before, so I knew what I was missing. Maybe it was just as well my friends didn't know what they were missing as on a clear day, you can see the Himalayas stretching as far as the eye can see.

  The hike was very interesting, passing through villages, along paddies, up and down little trails that criss-crossed the hillside. Sometimes walking through forest, sometimes along ridge paths, the scenery was varied and we met lots of local people going about their day to day business. Schools were on holiday so it was nice saying hello to children who wanted to practice their English with 'What is your name?' and 'Where are you from?'

  Too soon we were descending to Panauti, the lovely Newar town on the other side of the hill we'd climbed. Visiting first the homestay where the Community Homestay Coordinator lives, we were shown to the homestay where we were to have lunch. Here my friends and I tucked into one of the nicest dal bhats I've had for a long time. Dal bhat is the Nepali staple of rice served with lentil soup and vegetable curry. Our hostess had gone to town with a wonderful selection of vegetable curries, homemade pickles and we left very full, to explore the historic sights of Panauti.

  This historic Newar town in the Kathmandu Valley has not changed much at all over the years. I first visited in 1994 and the old part of town still looks very much the same, with women winnowing the corn, piles of grain stacked on plastic sheets in the streets full of old houses. After a quick tour of the little old durbar and ghats by the river, we took a slow stroll back through the town to the bus park where my friends caught their bus back to Bhaktapur where they were staying, 15 minutes away.
