Takes you to the time when the villages of Victoria and Buxton were created by the recently freed slaves. Visit the monuments that tell the story of the struggle for freedom. Journey around the villages and hear the history. We will prepare the Metemgee, Cook Rice, Fried Fish, and Conkee tracing the origins of these foods to the time back then.

5.00The Emancipation tour was not just a tour of places around Guyana, but history brought to light that is seldom spoken of. Being born Guyanese, I felt it was important for me to learn about the history related to emancipation and real live places to see and touch the experience. I am grateful for the tour created by Eon and Jessica. Whether you are Guyanese or not, the history that was uncovered is one to experience.

5.00We very much enjoyed our Day Tour with Jessice and Eon. Their insights into the long and bumpy road toward true emancipation were fascinating. We visited several sites in Georgetown and out of town (the origianl ex-slave communities). We also stopped at an open air market to check out the fruits and vegetables, had a refreshing drink of fresh cane juice and visited Mama Fifee's Herbal Clinic, where we bough a poultice that really helped my husband with a foot injury. To top it off, we had a delicious lunch made by Eon with typical ingredients favored by the ex-slaves.

5.00Our day tour of Georgetown was a unique experience! In addition to their great warmth and fabulous humor, the tour guides Jessica and Eon have a fascinating historical knowledge that they have acquired during many years of research. Visiting extraordinary places, we learned a lot about colonial history and slavery and also immersed ourselves in Guyana's multifaceted and colorful culture. Thank you for the unforgettable day, the breathtakingly delicious dinner and all the warm hospitality!
