Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine
Kamishikimi Kumanoza Shrine is a hidden, mystical Shinto shrine located deep within the forests of Takamori in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Surrounded by ancient cedar trees, the shrine is nestled in a serene and otherworldly atmosphere. A long stone staircase, lined with moss-covered lanterns, leads visitors through the dense forest to the main shrine, creating an almost ethereal experience. The shrine is dedicated to various deities and is known for its secluded, peaceful environment, making it a popular spot for those seeking tranquility and a connection with nature. Amanoiwato Shrine
Amanoiwato Shrine is a significant Shinto shrine located in Takachiho, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. It is dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu and is deeply connected to the ancient Japanese myth of her hiding in a cave, causing the world to be plunged into darkness. The shrine is divided into two parts: the main shrine and a hidden cave, believed to be the actual site where Amaterasu hid. The area is surrounded by lush greenery, with a serene atmosphere that draws both spiritual seekers and those interested in Japan's rich mythology. Visitors often participate in guided tours to catch a glimpse of the sacred cave, which is not accessible to the public on their own.

Great tour guide with lots of interesting information, good coordination and nice list of destinations. The shrines are beautiful along with the gorge. We really liked the whole experience. Bus seats were a little hard and uncomfortable. I wish we could have did the top of mount aso instead. And I wish the tour ran from Kumamoto. Instead we went to Fukuoka a day early to hit the tour. But it all worked out.

While this was beautiful and the guide was very good the overview didn't mention that there were many steps and steep slopes. This is not a suitable trip for anyone with mobility issues and had I known how difficult it was I wouldn't have booked it.

While the places shine in their beauty, the road to get there does not. The guide was fairly unhelpful and barely provided his name. Albus or Elvis I’m not sure. The driver was very aggressive. I also worry that the bus had not been maintained or had gone without an inspection of the struts and shocks. I was being jostled and whipped around to the point of nausea Options for lunch are limited if you stay where they tell you to. Go out into the little town they’re our restaurants in the market with much better options. The guide would immediately get off the bus and start moving. If you were in the back of the bus, the man would be a quarter of a mile down the road before you got off. He would then bark command at you to “come here” like you’re a dog. Very rude and unprofessional. If you don’t mind spending the majority of time in the vehicle, this trip may be worth it. And perhaps things would be different if I didn’t have the same guide and driver. Landscape, the gorge the waterfall are all very beautiful. However, using this agency should make you think twice about who you allow to hold your life in their hands.

This was a full day trip to the Miyazaki gorge with two additional stops at a beautiful, mystical shrine, and a cave along the way. The sites were breathtaking, and our guide Sun was wonderful.

We are so glad we took this long day trip on a large bus to some of the mountains on Kyushu. A very scenic shinto temple with enough time to climb to the top through a dense forest, plus climb down the gorge and stroll along the bottom. Unfortunately for some, another tour booking site said that row boats would be available for rent. Kudos to Trip Advisor for correctly not stating that.

This is the first day tour I have taken and was very pleasantly surprised at how easy and enjoyable it was. Lina our tour guide was very clear with directions and what to expect. She was also very nice and encouraging when one of the hikes was challenging for me. I would recommend this tour to my senior friends as well as my young friends. Well done

Amazing - Loved this tour! This was an easy way to see some beautiful shrines and experience Takachiho Gorge without a car/driving in Japan. It’s a full day, but the bus is comfortable and air conditioned. The shrines we visited were lovely. We did not see the cave that is apparently under Amanoiwato Shrine, but we saw the above ground part of the shrine which was nice. Not sure how often the guided tours run there? Amanoiwato Shrine and Amanoyasukawara are a short scenic walk from each other. The walk over is gorgeous! Takachiho Gorge Is incredible! Some people were upset because they thought the tour included boat rentals, but that is clearly noted that you need to book it separately via the boat operators website 2 weeks before. It’s hard to gage when you’d arrive but we made it to the gorge around 14:00. The walk into the gorge is worth it, and I wouldn’t say a boat ride would have necessarily made the trip better. It just looked like a bunch of people rowing their boats into each other and trying to figure out how to row a boat for the first time. Seemed stressful in my opinion. I loved being able to just sit in the peaceful area, look at the views, and hear the sounds of the waterfalls. Our driver was very safe. Our tour guide Kaku was nice and gave some great dinner suggestions around Hakata station since you get in around 18:30. The ramen street in Hakata station - second floor (noodle alley) is incredibly delicious- can’t go wrong there for food after your tour 😊

Very organized and enjoyable. Our guide for the day, Emily, was so helpful and friendly. The amount of time spent at each stop was sufficient enough to enjoy and take photos without feeling rushed.

You don't go alone, sometimes there's not enough time to watch everything in peace. Had a lot of information. Very nice service.

I really liked the care and kindness of the guide. The tour was also very time-consuming, and we were able to watch each place slowly.
