  Alexander is a GREAT guide and he made the day perfect. He’s super friendly, multi-lingual, and passionate about the work he does. I’m usually a very independent traveler, but I am traveling solo so I wanted an organized tour vs. renting a car and setting out on my own. It was a good idea. I learned a lot, and got around w/o the stress and confusion of figuring it all out along the way. Be prepared! The Piedras Rojas hike is COLD and WINDY. I am not kidding. At 4,000m even a clear, warm day can feel like zero degrees. Bring layers, especially a good wind-breaker jacket, a cap and gloves. Note: I might have given this one less star just because it is a LONG DAY out (has noting to do with the great guide), and can be a bit tiring. Also, there can be a lot of “down time” waiting for people to catch up on trails, or while they wait in line for the toilet. But don’t let that dissuade you.   This trip is well worth the full day drive. The Chaxa Laguna flamingos were the highlight for me. Our guide, Cristóbal, was amazing. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the trip an extraordinary adventure. I would recommend this tour company as they had good communication and well organized.
