This is a regular sightseeing bus that visits the world heritage sites of Gassho Village in Gokayama Aikura and Shirakawago guided by a bus guide.
We will guide you through the Gokayama and Shirakawago Gassho settlements, which are difficult for individuals to reach, by a safe and comfortable chartered bus.
Please eat your lunch at Gassho Village in Shirakawago.
This tour is a regular sightseeing bus guided by a Nohi Bus bus guide. We offer you a comfortable bus journey to the next level, sharing information about the charms of the World Heritage Site, how to spend your time there, and seasonal information about foods and dialects in the Hida region that are not found in guidebooks. You can join on the day of departure if you have a seat. (However, we may refuse if the seats are full.)

Ainokura Gassho Community
We will guide you to the Gassho Village of Gokayama Ainokura, a World Heritage site. In the Ainokura Gassho-zukuri Village in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, there are 20 Gassho-zukuri houses still in existence, and you can see a variety of Gassho-zukuri houses. People still live in these gassho-zukuri houses.
The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses
Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage Site, is a village where 114 thatched gassho-zukuri houses still retain the nostalgic scenery of old Japan. The steeply sloped triangular roof, which is unique to regions with heavy snowfall, resembles the shape of hands joined together, which is why it is called a gassho-zukuri house. Feel free to stroll around the village for as long as you like. * You can also enter "Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri Minkaen".

4.00The guide on the coach was excellent, providing a thorough briefing before each visit. I tried the paper making washi experience which was simple and memorable. There was plenty of time at both sites, the weather was good and it was a relaxing day. Quite a long day for a limited variety experience. If using Tripadvisor, remember to exchange your voucher for the event tickets at the bus station.

5.00Terrific day trip. Finally, a tour that gives you plenty of time to walk around. A great way the see the UNESCO sights. Just remember to take your booked ticket to the ticket office to get your sticker and seat assignment. It takes 2 seconds but my ticket didn’t mention it but a kind Aussie clued me in.
Good way to visit the villages quickly and easily.

4.00Easy way to view the two villages. Bus was on time and very comfy. Our guide spoke good English and gave us plenty of explanation during the journey which meant we could explore the villages in our own time. Back at Takayama on time and happy.

5.00The trip was very nice and well organized, and our tour guide was kind and professional. Thank you :) We would just recommend visiting the villages towards the end of April, in early summer, or in autumn. During this time of year, its beauty doesn’t really stand out due to the weather. So if you’re considering a visit in March, be prepared for muddy conditions. Of course, this is not the fault of the tour itself. :)

5.00Excellent experience, landscapes worthy of movies. Even with cold and snow, it was wonderful and the sun ended up shining an ear helping in the beauty. The guide spoke English and distributed various information and maps.
Nice trip to the mountain towns.

4.00Nice to see both shirakawago and the slightly smaller town ainokura. We actually think that the smaller town was a little cooler than Shirakawago. We were also lucky to experience it in the snow, absolutely fantastic! The guide told us about the cities on the bus before we even got to walk around, which was nice just to have to take it at your own pace.

5.00I was going with low expectations for the comments I had read about the excursion but overall very well. We were picked up by bus at 8:30 and within an hour we arrived at the first village of Gokayama, where we could be 1 hour free visiting the village. During the bus tour the guide explained everything in detail, what to visit, better tours, transfer times, curiosities about the villages, etc. After this we went to Shirakawago, they left us 3 hours free to visit, for me, spare time. But for those who needed more time to visit the village, the guide had the option of giving us a free ticket to return to Takayama by public transport. Traveling in February, both villages were able to see and enjoy them with snow and they were not very crowded, so we enjoyed very much. Ps: I recommend going to eat immediately after arriving to Shirakawago, as restaurants close soon.
