After Breakfast, your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech starts at 9:00 am. You will meet your Guide Driver at your Inn or Riad in Marrakech. Get ready for a panoramic and unforgettable journey through the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, which rises to 2,260 metres above sea level.

Along the way, enjoy several photo stops. Admire panoramic views of the mountains, Berber villages, and impressive scenery. This route is considered one of the most beautiful in Morocco.

Ouarzazate

As you climb from the plains of Marrakech, observe the transition of vegetation. You will pass from olive groves and forests to rocky slopes dotted with Berber villages in adobe. These villages gradually merge into the arid terrain of the south. Then descend to the southern slopes of the Atlas to reach Ouarzazate. Nicknamed the “Desert Gate,” this city is famous for being a location for many Hollywood movies.

Kasbah Amridil

Continue your journey through the beautiful oasis of Skoura, famous for its palm groves and historic kasbahs. Then cross the Valley of Roses, which is scented and blooming every spring.

Boumalne Dades

At the end of the afternoon, you will arrive in the dramatic Dades Valley, a territory of steep gorges, ochre cliffs and peaceful villages. Finally, enjoy dinner and a night in a traditional Inn or Riad, surrounded by the Dades Gorges.

Todra Gorge

Just a few kilometres away are the magnificent Todra Gorge. This natural wonder features imposing limestone cliffs, rising to 300 metres, carved by the Todra River. Located at an altitude of 1,350 metres and surrounded by a lush palm oasis, these gorges offer a spectacular setting. This place is ideal for walks and photography.

Erfoud

Then continue south-east to Erfoud. This city is famous as the fossil capital of Morocco. Here you can discover workshops that transform ancient marine fossils into decorative pieces and marble works. As the terrain becomes drier, you will take desert trails to Merzouga, the gateway to the legendary dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Upon arrival, exchange the 4×4 for a camel ride through the golden dunes. Soak up the rhythm of the desert at sunset. Then head to your luxury camp in the desert. You will be welcomed with a mint tea before settling into your traditional haima (Berber tent).

Erg Chebbi

Early risers will be rewarded with the spectacular experience of a sunrise in the Sahara Desert. This is one of the most magical moments of the entire trip. After Breakfast at the camp, get back on your camel for a peaceful walk through the dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will then proceed to the meeting point where your driver is waiting for you.

Rissani

Then we head to Rissani, a city steeped in history and former capital of the first Alawite dynasty. Known for its authentic souks, Rissani is home to a lively Point of Sale. Here, local nomads exchange livestock, spices, dates and traditional products. If your visit coincides with a Point of Sale day, you will have the opportunity to witness this fascinating scene of traditional Moroccan trade.

Agdz

The journey continues south through the spectacular Draa Valley, home to Morocco’s longest river. Along the way, admire the lush palm groves, centuries-old Berber villages and magnificent adobe kasbahs that rise from the valley floor. Moreover, the landscape is punctuated by impressive geological formations, adding to the natural beauty of the area.

Ouarzazate

Finally, you will arrive at Ouarzazate, also known as the “Gate of the Sahara.” Here you can relax in your Inn or Riad. Take advantage of the evening to relax and contemplate the impressive contrasts between desert, oasis and mountains you have discovered throughout the day.

CLA Studios Ouarzazate

After Breakfast, you can opt for a quick tour of the legendary Atlas Studios, also known as the Universal Studios of Morocco. It is here that famous films such as Gladiator, Game of Thrones and The Mummy were shot. Alternatively, explore the magnificent Taourirt Kasbah, a former palace of the Glaoui dynasty, renowned for its maze architecture and historical importance.

Ait Ben Haddou

Then head to the iconic Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified village is one of the best preserved ksour in Morocco. This splendid earthen ensemble, perched on a hillside along the ancient caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, has been the setting for many Hollywood blockbusters. You will have free time to walk through the narrow alleys, explore the old houses and climb to the top to enjoy panoramic views of the desert plains and surrounding mountains.

After this cultural immersion, start the return to Marrakech with Amodo Tours, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains again via the Tizi n’Tichka pass (2,260 m). Enjoy the impressive scenery, picturesque Berber villages and panoramic photo stops along the way.
