On our Secret Food Tours: Oaxaca, you'll enjoy a variety of traditional local foods.
Journey through all facets of Mexican cuisine, from traditional "abuelita" recipes to Tlayudas freshly made in a local spot, and the delicious taste of the famous black Mole. Our tour visits two local markets for your delight: Mercado 20 de Noviembre and Mercado Benito Juárez. Before walking towards the Zócalo, a charming square brimming with history, stunning architecture, and culture.
Oaxaca’s old town is the perfect area to experience the colorful atmosphere and discover the vibrant flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. Throughout the walk, you'll experience historical and charming streets as we head towards a beloved local terrace for our final bites.
At the end of your tour, you'll have sampled some of Oaxaca's most delicious dishes, strolled through the most picturesque streets, and gained a better understanding of our culture and history. Plus, don't forget our Secret Dish!

Start a delectable journey as we savor our first bites and learn more about markets in Oaxaca! Our food journey begins with two amazing bites at the famous Mercado 20 de Noviembre in Oaxaca: one savory and one sweet. We'll indulge in a classic Mexican dish renowned for its rich history and unique to this city: our special Mole Negro, to be enjoyed alongside another distinct Mole from Oaxaca; then Chili relleno and more!

5.00I had an amazing food tour in Oaxaca City with Armando as our guide. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about Oaxacan cuisine. We explored local markets, including Mercado Benito Juárez, and tasted incredible dishes like mole, tlayudas, and traditional drinks. Armando explained the history and cultural meaning behind each dish, making the experience both delicious and educational. 5.00Yummy tour! We got to try many things we wouldn’t have had if we were on our own. Armando did a great job explaining everything to us and also giving us time to enjoy the food. We had a mix of market food, chocolate and a few items from nicer restaurants. Highly recommend!

5.00We lucked out and had a private tour with Armando. Really enjoyed our stops in the Benito Juarez market and also several specialty food shops - a great opportunity to learn about Oaxacan foods. And since my partner does not like spicy food, Armando helped us navigate that as well - much appreciated!

5.00We had an excellent food tour in Oaxaca with Antonio Baalachi. He was wonderful and made sure that we experienced not just the food, but also the culture. We had delicious mole in the market and then went through the market learning and sampling all that Oaxaca has to offer. We also went on a further walk for more treats and a final lunch. We highly recommend Antonio and Secret Food Tours.
