Our favorite part of this experience is seeing the eyes of new divers during those first few breaths underwater! It is a look of awe and excitement and it always makes us smile. We are a family business run by a Cozumel native and we love to share our very favorite things the island has to offer. Our motto at Cozumel Abyss Divers is "quality, not quantity", so you will experience a small group setting where you will get plenty of attention from your instructor. We keep a small ratio of no more than four* divers per instructor, and we also don't have a diver minimum for this experience, so we won't cancel if you are the only one!

*If you have a group of more than four wanting to book this experience, please reach out to us so that we can have an additional instructor ready!

If you've always wanted to scuba dive, Cozumel is a great place to do it! This experience is ideal for beginners who would like to try scuba diving before deciding to take the plunge into a full certification. After you learn the skills you need to begin diving safely from your PADI-certified instructor, then you will then embark to explore our underwater world. This experience takes approximately 2-3 hours. Please note that you will not be certified to dive after your participation, however if you wish to continue your education with us, we do offer a discount towards your Open Water Course! In order to book a PADI Discover Scuba Experience, our divers must be at least 10 years old. While no prior diving experience is necessary, you should be in reasonable physical health. We at Cozumel Abyss Divers like to keep our groups small, so you will have plenty of attention from your instructor if you need assistance or have questions!

Just had an amazing week of diving with Jose from Cozumel Abyss Divers. We have lost count of the number of scuba diving trips we have taken with him and his team. This time they took care of 4 discovery, 2 refresh, 1 course of nitrox and ourselves in top of all of that! I am proud to refer new clients to him, confident that they will have an incredible, safe and memorable experience, without any doubt. They organized everything perfectly, every single one of us was pleased. Thanks to you again an again Jose, will miss you guys until next time !

I had a great experience with Jose using Fabio! Both are very attentive to detail and know how to adapt well to each person in the group. It was my first diving experience, being a stressed person, they accompanied me and reassured me throughout the process. It is thanks to them that my experience was so great!

Wonderful week with Cozumel Abyss Divers and Jose Arosemena. We saw turtles, nurse shark, ocean triggerfish, frog fish and lots and lots of other things underwater. Incredible experience diving with Cozumel Abyss Divers!! Staff are extremely knowledgeable and experienced- with gear, managing large groups, to teaching skills. It was wonderful to witness the smiles of faces of successful open water candidates. Staff know the many lush beautiful dive sites Cozumel has to offer like the back of their hands. Know exactly where to experience unique wildlife, incredible swim throughs and manage the various natural elements. They are very professional and beyond accommodating to everyone’s requests and needs. Service is always provided with a smile and friendly banter on the boat rides makes it even more enjoyable! Oh and the yummy local snackies during surface intervals were always fresh and delicious! Diving with Cozumel Abyss is like diving with family! Thank you for the memories and can’t wait to be back!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

On a recent trip to Cozumel, my friends and I were looking to experience the island’s world-class diving—and Cozumel Abyss Divers was the perfect choice. Jose, the owner, was fantastic with communication, spoke perfect English, and tailored a dive plan around our flight schedule so we could maximize our time underwater. The night shore dive was unforgettable—we watched an octopus glide across the sea floor, and the whole reef came alive after dark. The next day’s boat dives were just as impressive. The harbor was easy to reach, the staff was friendly, and the dive sites were only a short ride away. We even got to relax on a beautiful pier between dives instead of waiting on the boat. I’ve been on many dives, but this experience truly stood out. If you’re heading to Cozumel, I highly recommend booking with Cozumel Abyss Divers.

Jose and his team were absolutely fabulous for me and wife’s honeymoon! He is a local with so much knowledge of the island, and speaks perfect English! I did a day of diving with him that was so good, we went again the next day! Definitely recommend for anyone in Cozumel looking to go diving to book with Cozumel Abyss! 10/10

This is our second trip with jose! Totally recommended even if you're strapping on fins for the first time! Jose is the kind of scuba instructor and guide everyone hopes to find. We felt completely safe, supported, and educated. Every step was explained with patience and clarity. This will be your best dive trip yet!

Did the Discover Scuba tour with a friend as we both wanted to see if we'd like it before considering actual certification. We both knew nothing about Scuba before the class. Jose was amazing, super friendly, easy going and a great teacher. Made the whole experience easy to follow and safe and got us both hooked on planning to further pursue certification. Highly recommend his services and definitely would look to go with him on future dives once we're actually certified (may need to return to Cozumel in future to do this)! Also great to chat with him about skiing!
