I am a Basque native, in love with my country, culture and gastronomy. And after be working with travelers 7 years, in 2015 I started offering artisan, unique and authentic experiences in my own. Aiming to offer the possibility to enjoy feeling and living, the true essence of the Basque Country, out of the commercial and away from the tourist masses.

And this is the best experience I offer ever about local artisanal producers of the country side and probably the most pure that is offered in the city. If you don’t believe me, came on to collect the best mountain products, visiting artisan producers and cooking lunch in my “gastronomic society”. And after completing the experience, you are not satisfied. I will return you, the amount paid for it

* The gastronomic society : Is where you can experience the region’s gastronomy from first hand. The love of food and social dining is what brings together family groups and friends to cook top quality ingredients with loving care.

We will drive 50 minutes from San Sebastian, to go deep into the mountains, in the heart of the Basque Country, where I was lucky to be born and grow. While we enjoy a very easy and beautiful walk, we will visit two rural farm-houses that are dedicated to the artisanal elaboration of food and drinks. We will get to know their lifestyle closely and throughout the morning we will not stop tasting homemade products such as cheeses, bread, sausages, eggs, vegetables, fruits, honey, flowers, wine and cider among others. Having collected the best food, we will descend to my hometown, to enjoy the atmosphere of the street while having a wine. And finally, we will go back up the mountain, to cook and enjoy a good meal together, in my gastronomic society, without missing good wines.

We joined Julen as a group of 8 friends to celebrate a birthday. This is now the third time we’ve booked through him and he never fails to deliver a great experience. His passion for the Basque Country and food is second to none. Highly recommend.

Our day with Julien was the highlight of our trip to Spain. Julien’s love for the Basque Country, good food, and meaningful experiences was contagious. Strongly recommend this experience to soak up this beautiful region of Spain

We had an amazing family daytrip with Julen, meeting wonderful people, exploring beautiful places, and preparing (and eating!) incredible food. Our group had children, seniors, and adults of different ages, and everyone had a great time and made some beautiful family memories in an idyllic setting. We enjoyed visiting a small farm in the mountains, learning about their crops, meeting their animals, and picking some of the season's first tomatoes and blackberries for our breakfast. Later, we visited a small town to pick up additional ingredients, and then Julen took us to a private gastronomic society club, where we learned to prepare traditional Basque dishes as a family. It was an amazing meal in an absolutely beautiful and relaxing setting. Julen was very thoughtful with the children in our group, bringing along sports equipment and Basque games for them to try, which they loved! He also took wonderful care of the grandparents in our group, making sure they had refreshments and shady places to rest when they needed it. Traveling around the gorgeous Basque countryside with Julen felt like being shown around by a friend, and his passion for the culture and gastronomy of his region made the day unlike any other. It was an experience we'll never forget!

This was one of our favorite vacation days! Jullen was so patient and kind with our family and he showed us a part of Spain (and France!) that would be nearly impossible to explore solo. He was so informative and even taught our kids to play handball. He is a gem and truly made our experience unforgettable. He was patient with our kids, as well. We hope to meet him again someday!

What a great day we had with Julen, experiencing the local Basque hospitality in beautiful and natural surroundings. We visited a local winery and were treated to a wine tasting with accompaniments, enjoyed around the table in the farmer's kitchen. Then on to shopping and preparing a delicious meal which we all shared. A fantastic day out and Julen is so warm and welcoming. I highly recommend this experience

Had a fantastic time with Julen on our producers tour in the mountains. Julen went above and beyond not only in the producers he introduced us to, but in sharing his town, family recipes, and cooking us a fabulous meal! Everyone had an amazing time, including our 4 year old daughter who loved seeing all the animals and playing around the gastronomy club grounds. Thank you Julen for the lovely day that we’ll always remember!

Julian was very warm and welcoming. He was knowledgeable of the area and showed us around some great farms where we met some amazing and hard working people. Then we had an amazing brunch with a backdrop that could only be found on postcards.

It's hard to put into words how incredible our day with Julen was. Since we went in the off season, we had a private tour. He picked us up promptly and we were instantly friends. His warm and welcoming personality radiated his passion for Basque culture. The 1-hour drive into the mountains passed quickly with beautiful scenery and Julen's conversation. We visited a small traditional family bakery in the hills above the village where three generations of bakers were making bread together on a busy Saturday! Their bread was so tasty and made with love. Next, an organic family cheese farm welcomed us with open arms and tons of adorable animals to pet (sheep, goats, horses, kittens, dogs!). We shared a snack together and felt like we were hanging out with old friends. We walked to their gastronomic society for a coffee break. Yes, we lucked out with gorgeous weather. We took a pastoral walk in the foothills before driving back up the mountain to another gastronomic society. There, we met Julen's father and cooked an incredibly tasty meal together. We had bread from the bakery, and chorizo and cheese from the cheese farm. Local Txakoli wine free flowed. We ended our meal with Julen's dad's favorite digestive liquor. After the big meal, we learned how to play handball to wake ourselves up from our food coma. The drive back to San Sebastián was equally wonderful and beautiful. We went home with a bag full of incredible local food. We aren't typically people who like tours. But this one exceeded all expectations and provided exactly what a tour should: an experience that can't be repeated anywhere else. Don't wait to book this tour. Do it. Right now. :)

We had the best day with Julen exploring the Basque countryside and tasting local foods. We were exploring the Basque Country and Julen was kind enough to begin our tour picking us up in Bilbao then dropping us off at days end in our hotel in San Sebastián. This greatly simplified our travels as we had no desire to rent a car just for a day and trains and other transport weren’t great. We started with a quick jaunt to see the amazing San Juan Gaztelugatxe from a perfect viewpoint followed by a perfectly timed visit to an artisanal bakery rediscovering the traditional recipes an techniques for bread. There we had a “light snack” with hot bread, salumi, cheese and cider. After a pleasant visit we moved on to a farm making beautiful cheeses and met the cheese makers and watched the process. The grand finale was a very traditional Basque lunch at a mend’s cooking club above a small village. Julen is a real people-person and delights in showcasing the local foods and traditions. Julen’s slogan-the tour for non tour lovers-is apt. Spend some time immersed in the Basque lifestyle and culture with your new friend in the Basque Country. You’ll be very glad you did!

This was the experience of a lifetime! If you ever want to immerse yourself into the culture of pure basque living this is the tour you have to take. By way of a short beautiful hike in the woods Julen took us to his friend’s farm where we watched the full cheese making process from sheep to package. We then sat down with the farm owners in their kitchen and enjoyed a typical basque breakfast of jamon, omelette, bread and of course the most amazing cheese. The farmer’s could not speak any English but we were able to communicate through the language of wine, lol! After the farm we stopped at another farmer friend and tried his homemade cider. Then off to a bakery to pick up bread and dessert and then finally to Julen’s friend’s txoko where we ate an amazing basque dish prepared by Julen. We laughed and chatted for hours with his wonderful friend and did not want the day to end. Julen was an amazing guide and we now have a friend for life in San Sebastián! Thanks Julen!
