5.00This was an amazing experience! Touring with a ceramic artist is the best way to explore Tokoname! Mr. Yagi was knowledgeable, kind, patient, and flexible. He spoke English fluently, and facilitated and translated our conversation with the tea master, Mr. Mizuno, when we visited Chaden - Tea Cafe & Teapot Workshop. I enjoyed his tour tremendously, and learned a lot! Incidentally, Mr. Yagi is VERY talented, comes from an artisan family. His grandfather's, his father's and his own works were on exhibit at the Tokoname Ceramic Hall when I visited. If you are interested in Japanese ceramics, sign up for this tour. You won't be disappointed! FYI: The tour I received was not exactly what was described on Viator, but it was what I wanted. Mr. Yagi was quite willing to pivot and give me a tour of my choosing! 5.00I had the pleasure of exploring the hidden pottery circuit in Tokoname, and it was such a memorable experience. Our guide, Issei-Touen, took the time to give a lots of information and made it feel anything but ordinary—his deep knowledge and genuine passion for Tokoname and its ceramic heritage brought every stop to life. He spoke excellent English, which made everything easy to follow, and he's even learning French, which was such a fun surprise! If you want to experience Tokoname’s pottery scene with someone who truly loves what he does, this tour is a fantastic choice.
Visit Tokoname, you won’t regret it

5.00Issei is a wonderful tour guide, who has a vast knowledge of Tokoname and the history of ceramics in general. As a an artist and potter himself, he has a unique understanding, he even takes you to his shop where you can see his amazing work. Tokoname is a beautiful area and has a rich history, with many amazing pottery pieces you can bring back, I highly recommend.

5.00Tokoname is a lovely getaway around Nagoya. We toured the village with our guide, who showed us the old kilns, pottery workshops and cute village stores. Our guide was very friendly and knew the other craftsmen in the village well. He even let us into his store where we could see his work. If you're passing through Nagoya and have a few hours to spare, don't hesitate to take a trip to Tokoname to find a nice souvenir!

4.00I really enjoyed the history behind the Town of Tokoname and Pottery. Having a local Potter (Taka-san) as your tour guide also provided more insights to Tokoname beyond the history of Pottery which was great. The tour locations were easy to follow and the time allowance for the tour was spot on. I would certainly come back to try out pottery making

5.00I enjoyed this tour so much! I knew Tokoname was famous for its pottery but didn’t know all the information our guide gave us! There was so much more to discover than if I had just done the footpath by myself.

5.00I have visited Tokoname by myself before, but I’ve learned from this guided tour much more than from websites or information plaques. Our guide is a local and talked about different sights with an engaging enthusiasm. I wish the tour could be a bit longer, as I am sure there is more interesting tidbits about the area to learn.
Not for just anyone … for creative purposes peace and quiet loving folks!

5.00Very easy to understand, the English spoken by the guide and he also answered all my questions. Very informative short walk on the Pottery path. Don’t come if you don’t like old things and history! The place is full of clay pipes and old kilns! So if you like pottery, you will enjoy!
