Our tour programme is really unique, during one day guests visit 6 interesting, different locations in the canyons of Charyn River.
In addition to walking inside the popular Castle Valley Canyon (Location # 1), we offer guests a visit to the observation deck, the view from the top of Castle Valley Canyon is a breathtaking view of the entire canyon (Location # 2).
Next we visit Moon Canyon with a truly lunar, ethereal scale, the ground turns from a burgundy colour to a yellow hue (Location # 3).
The next stop on the route is "Stone Shelf", a place with volcanic activity a million years ago (Location # 4).
The "Napoleon" location includes an unforgettable view of the main canyon of the Charyn River and a huge amount of free space (Location # 5).
The last point of the route is the "Austrian View" - the turns of the Charyn River take shape in the form of a giant snake, bordered by the green edge of an ancient tree - turanga (Location # 6).

Charyn Canyon National Park
A one-day trip to Charyn River canyons, including trekking, visiting six unique, exciting locations. ITINERARY 07:30. Departure from Almaty city to Charyn canyons. 10:30. Arrival at the Valley of Castles canyon (Location # 1). Walking inside the canyon (2.5 km long). 11:30. Return to the canyon car park. Visit to the panorama overlooking "Castles Valley" from above (Location # 2). 13:00. Departure to the Moon Canyon (Location # 3). Short walk, lunch snack, photo session. 14:30. Departure to the Stone Shelf (Location # 4). 15:15. Entering the volcanic zone of the national park we make a 20-minute stop at a spectacular site overlooking the rocky part of the canyon. 16:00. Transfer to "Napoleon", the panoramic site (Location # 5). 16:30. Visit the final point of the trip - "the Austrian view" panoramic platform (Location # 6). 17:00. Departure to Almaty. 19:30. Arrival in Almaty.

5.00We went on a private tour with Yeldar to the Charyn canyon. Everything was just perfect. The tour was very well organized and Yeldar was such an amazing tour guide and we got to learn so much about the history and the people of Kazakhstan and central Asia. And now coming to the canyon itself, no words or pictures could do justice for how breathtaking it was. And since we had booked a private tour, we had so much time to really take it slow and not to rush and see a 100 things in one day. Also thanks to Azamat, for organizing everything before the trip.

5.00My friends and I did this tour on August 17, 2025. Grigoriy, the tour guide, gave us an amazing experience. He took us to a bunch of spots and we were the only ones there so it was very nice to do some sightseeing with no other tourists around. I'd highly recommend this trip. Everything was planned for us and the vehicle was comfortable. Grigoriy even provided us lunch with veggies from his own garden and eggs from his chickens!

He brought us to experience 4 unique spots in Charyn Canyon & Kolsay Lake to enjoy beautiful scenes and explained the country’s historical events along the way. He customized the trip to suit our physics (as we are elderly) so we are able to enjoy the trip. Thanks

5.00We had a chance to go on a trip with Green X 2 weeks ago. The person who took us was Max. He gave us very complete information and we chatted all the way. Max is also a mountain guide. But the trip we went on was only 2 days 1 night, only going to Charyn Canyon, Kaindy Lake, Kolsai Lake. It wasn't difficult for a mountain guide hahaha, it was very fun and we had a good experience throughout the trip. I highly recommend Max and Green X. Moreover, The guesthouse in Saty Village was better than I thought. The food was delicious. At first, I didn't expect much, but I really liked it.

5.00I had my friends over from different countries (Norway, Lithuania, Vietnam), who wanted to see the best of Kazakhstan's nature. Naturally, I thought of GreenX! We went on a two-day trip the first week of September, to see Charyn, Kolsai and Kaindy, and there were a few more spots we saw in between - the weather was perfect! Our guide & driver was Dmitri, super knowledgeable, kind and attentive! We enjoyed his company and the information he shared, from historical details through archaeological trivia to quirky funky stuff! Overall the trip was amazing and everything went very smoothly! Foodwise, we grabbed a snack for our breakfast on the first day, and then Dmitri recommended a spot for lunch, which was around halfway to Charyn and was cheaper than getting food anywhere near tourist places, we got takeaway there and headed towards Charyn. We then walked for a bit and had our packed lunch. We had dinner at the hotel, (Kolsai Prestige - which let us heat the remaining of our lunch) and we ordered some salads and hot drinks on top. The next day breakfast was included with the accommodation and we bought a packed lunch from the hotel restaurant for the road. In terms of accommodation, I think if we had booked with GreenX more in advance we would've gotten a more authentic experience of one of the people in the surrounding area hosting us (possibly in a yurt!), and it would've been included in the price with GreenX. I had to book the hotel separately, however, we still enjoyed our food & sleep at the hotel. The locations were.... stunning!! 100% must-see. Tips: Make sure you bring cash with you!! Most places closer to Charyn would not be taking cards, and even if you have an account with Kaspi (local bank), the internet connection is not stable, so you will struggle like I did! Luckily Dmitri had some cash which we borrowed to enter the national park areas and eco taxi to the lakes, and paid back to him upon our return, but wasn't ideal, so have cash on you when you travel outside Almaty! I was in touch with Azamat, who had made the entire experience of booking very easy and smooth and I have already been recommending GreenX to my friends and family!

5.00I highly recommend this agency, very well organized . This is amazing sightseeing with comfortable conditions.We enjoyed 2 days tour in Charyn , Kaiyndy, kolsay with an overnight in Saty village. Our guide was Grigoriy .He was a polite person and helped us throughout this trip very well.

5.00We did 2 different tours with Green X: 1. Kaindy, Kolsay and Charyn in 1 day! It was awesome in a comfortable vehicle and great tour guide/driver who was really reliable and safe. Gorgeous views! 2. Oi-Qaragai Mountain resort with 1 hour horse ride and chair lift was an amazing experience! Kids and adults enjoyed. Overall I totally recommend Green X. I must mention Anna, the person I was in contact with, she’s just so quick and friendly. I felt so safe booking with her. Well done, GreenX!
An enjoyable custom Golden Ring of Zhetysu

5.00Four of us (1 family) from Australia enjoyed a custom private tour with GreenX in July 2023. Taking the Golden Ring of Zhetysu as a backbone, we added some white water rafting in the Chilik River, and a drop off to Karakol in Kyrgyzstan at the end of the trip. We originally booked to do this tour in 2020, but COVID struck and everything got shut down. Natalya handled this very well, and I remained in contact until 2022 when I re-booked for 2023. Azamat and GreenX organised everything with clear email interactions. We were pleased to meet Ramil, our driver and guide, at our hotel in Almaty on the first day of our trip at the appointed time, with his four-wheel drive that was in good condition. Ramil was polite, professional, spoke excellent English, and knew his subject matter very well. He did all the walking and even the white-water rafting with us, and provided plenty of information about each site that we visited. He was a safe driver and just the right guide for us. The border crossing into Kyrgyzstan at Kegen worked just fine – guards on both sides were friendly. The dinners were delicious, particularly in Zharkent, and the hotels were reasonable and friendly. All up we thoroughly enjoyed our time on this tour, and definitely recommend both GreenX and Ramil.
