The 2nd Tunnel was discovered in an area 13km north of Cheorwon within the DMZ on March 19, 1975.
As arch of rocks, it has 2.1m width, 2m height, 3.5km length and located between 50 and 160m (160 and 520ft) below ground.
About 30,000 armed troops could infiltrate through the tunnel in an hour with vehicles, artillery pieces, and even tanks.
It's Available to explore 500m length of the tunnel for now and accessible to nearest Southern limit line. Possible to watch lush greenery near Guard Posts and General Out Posts of South Korea versus Guard Posts, Naktagoji, and Kim Ilsung goji of North Korea.
The granites, formed in 110 milion years ago, was covered by basalt lava flow and eroded after made asymmetrical natural views of Hantan River
Able to feel dazzling and beauty by walking through 30 and 40m heights cliffside path which surrounded by Columnar jointing,
UNESCO Global Geopark that has length of 3.6km and width 1.5m.

The origins of the building are unclear, as records indicate that it was built in early 1946, prior to the establishment of the Workers' Party of North Korea (predecessor to the current Workers' Party of Korea).
The 2nd Tunnel
The 2nd Tunnel, which was made by North Koreans to invade South Korea, was discovered on March 24, 1975. This tunnel is 3.5 kilometers long and sits 50~160 meters below the surface. It stretches out 1.1 kilometers and 2.4 kilometers in the south and north directions respectively. Only 500 meters is open for tourism among the whole length. Inside of the tunnel, there is a plaza to gather a large military force. The tunnel is divided into 3 exits. The use of this tunnel would allow for thirty thousand armed forces as well as tanks to pass through per hour. For now, the tunnel is operated as part of Cheorwon Security Tourism Course and many tourists visit this area every year.

5.00Shin was an incredible tour guide, so informative and such good conversations about Korea more generally. The whole tour was run incredibly efficiently and I would absolutely recommend going to Cheorwan over other DMZ tours - it's good to get out of Seoul and there are comparatively few people visiting this bit of the dmz. The food for lunch was an unexpected highlight - homegrown and home-cooked from a little rural cafe. A highlight of our trip to Korea.

5.00This was an amazing and very informational tour. I’m really happy that I got to take my kids to see this part of Korean history. I guided, Grace, was very educating, engaging, and entertaining. I would totally recommend going with I Love Soul Tour to see the DMZ and don’t forget to ask for Grace.

5.00Thomas was the best tour guide we vould have askef for for this tour. He was so kind and helpful, he had so much knowlefge of each location and made sure to be there for each guest on the tour. Definitely guaranteed a great tour when he is your tour guide! It was such an interesting tour and you hit so many great areas for not only photo opportuinties (considering there are many places on the tour where you cannot take photos for security reasons) but so much knowledge.
