Souq Waqif

Visit Souq waqif which is the oldest marketplace in Doha. The Souq sells traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs, It is also home to restaurants and Shisha lounges. The original building dates back at least from the 20th Century in a traditional Qatari architectural style.

We only had one night in Doha and wanted a local guide to show us the Souq. Our guide Javid did not disappoint. He was punctual, courteous and knowledgeable. We saw camels and falcons, the falcon hospital and Arabian horses. It was fascinating. Javid also taught us how to play Damas. Dinner at the restaurant in the Souq was also incredible. We give a 10/10!

What an amazing experience. David is so patient and kind. He took the time to explain every aspect to us and we learnt so much. Truly appreciated every minute of it. 10 out of 10!

Fun tour through the main market of Doha, complete with falcons, shopping, and a delicious traditional dinner! I highly recommend Javid, he was a great guide and very knowledgeable!! I would recommend booking a tour later in the afternoon to see the market at its peak.

Very interesting cultural tour of museum and Souq Waqif with a delicious traditional lunch at the conclusion. Perhaps more time to experience the Souq itself would have added to the experience. Javid was a very knowledgeable tour guide and spoke very good English.

Javid is a fantastic guide for a first time tour to Doha, very knowledgeable and insightful tour through the old markets, explaining the old architecture and history. After passing by the oldest hotel in Doha, we also went through the sweets market and ended with a traditional dinner with chicken and lamb curry.
