It's virtually a full day with two boat trips and a coach ride in between. Stunning scenery. It didn't rain on our trip but the staff said it's even better when it's raining as it makes the mountain scenery even better.

It was really special! It was raining and a bit foggy in the beginning which was cool. We sat both seals and a bunch of crested penguins. After that, the rain stopped and the sun popped out. We really got to see it all.

This experience was by far the best I’ve had on a trip thus far. Doubtful Sound is truly one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I would do this exact trip over and over again if I could! The staff were excellent, the day flowed smoothly, and it was INCREDIBLE. 15/10 MUST DO!!!!

Absolutely stunning views. Friendly staff. We went during the days long power outage and they still made everything work smoothly, while every other tour we had was cancelled. We got to see dolphins twice.

We had our Milford Sound tour cancelled due to bad weather so booked Doubful sound. The scenery is spectacular and loved driving through snow to get to Doubtful Sound. This was a great tour and the cheeseboard i purchased was delicious. Seeing some dolphins added to the experience.

An AWESOME experience. The sound is absolutely gorgeous. The nature guides provided some really fun facts and background. The boat was gorgeous. The bus drivers were hilarious. I loved the experience.

We had a really great day and the views were breathtaking, but the tour itself could really use some improvement. Firstly, they advertise complimentary tea & coffee as part of the tour, but it’s not - it’s $7 a coffee. Secondly, the live commentary on the boat was pretty scarce, she probably spoke for 5/10 mins total on a 3 hour boat. Third, we had to wait almost an hour for our return boat, and no reason was given for this, which was pretty frustrating. Having said that, the staff were generally lovely, and the bus guides were funny, engaging and knowledgeable. We still had a great time, but definitely begrudge the extortionate price of the tour

Trip to Milford sound was cancelled the day before but we were so happy we were able to book Doubtful Sound for the following day. We drove to Manapouri from Te Anau which is a short drive for 730am departure which was much less busy than later in the day. We took sandwiches and chocolate though there is food on the boats. We are sure it is the better trip than Milford as it is so peaceful and quiet with only one other boat out when we were on the sound. Although we had rain and wind we were able to see the snow covered mountains and many fantastic waterfalls. Both boat trips were really comfortable even with wind and waves, especially as captain chose to stay in fiord and not go out to high waves on Tasman sea. We did see a couple of fiord penguins at a distance. The guides were very good especially on bus over the pass. We dressed in layers with a raincoat and wool hat as it was chilly out on deck.

We were blessed with a perfect day...blue sky , sun ., it was just magic. The trip from start to finish was great, a friendly and informative crew, well organised in terms of transfers.. I liked the few minutes of silence!.. so powerful to hear the stillness... New Zealand is an awe inspiring place and doubtful sound with steep mts risng from the water, waterfalls at every turn, dolphins seals...it was truly a wonderful experience

Overall this was an awesome experience. There are two ~40min bus rides, so if you get car sick, pack some Dramamine! The boats were comfortable and had a lot of different viewing spaces which allowed it to feel spacious even with a large group. It can get cold out on the water, so definitely pack layers. The food and drinks on board are good, although the wait can get long around lunchtime. The scenery is incredible and definitely worth the trip!
