Blenheim Palace
Blenheim Palace This awe-inspiring stately home, the current private residence of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, is perhaps best-known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Admire the stunning details behind the portraits, tapestry and furniture in the lavishly decorated State Rooms, which includes ornate furniture by Boulle, Savonniere carpet and the iconic 'Victories' series of tapestries celebrating the Duke's victory over the French armies of 'The Sun King', Louis XIV, at the Battle of Blenheim. Enjoy a stroll through the beautifully landscaped formal gardens designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown and more than 2,000 acres of parkland, or walk in the footsteps of Sir Winston Churchill. Visit his most cherished outdoor places on the grounds of Blenheim Palace, including the spot where he proposed to Clementine Hozier.

Whilst this experience was enjoyable our time at Blenheim Palace was too short and late in the day. We missed the roof experience and the below stairs experience because they closed for the day while we were in the Palace. There should have been much less time in Brouton on the water. There’s not that much to do there and that time would have been better spent at the Palace. Lovely to visit the Downton Abbey sites but not enough time to visit the church and the shop. You could really only choose one.

Says gates 1-5. Not one specific gate. Saw Cotswalds on screen at gate 2 so I stood there but didn’t see a bus. Grabbed an orange juice from shop right there. Still no bus. 8:57 now. Had previously messaged tour operator asking which gate but didn’t receive reply until 9:10. Bus left well before 9am. Other tour operators were much more helpful. This one was rude and yelled asking why didn’t I go to gate 1. Showed him email where it says 1-5. He didn’t even know what email says because he’s asking if I checked in and got a wristband. Nothing in email says a thing about this. Worst customer service and now they’re denying a refund when it’s on them. Pure trash

It was a long bus ride in heavy traffic coming and going. The Blenheim Palace is worth a stop even though it was under renovation. The audio was very hard to follow therefore took time trying to find the right location on the app. We felt rushed bc of it and also bc the tour company did not allow enough time for exploring the grounds and for getting lunch. We were told if we were not punctual that we would be left behind also.. After the palace stop we went on to the next location. On the itinerary we were told we would visit one of two different places. So upon arriving about 2 hours later at the next destination we immediately had to ask a merchant where we were. We were dropped off in Bourton in the Cotswalds. Our tour guide failed to mention the name of the place or give us any information about it before arriving. She said we had only an hour there and once again reminded us we would be left behind if we didn't get back to the bus in about 50 minutes. Once again we rushed around to see things which we didn't even know what to look for. It felt like the only purpose of it was to buy souvenirs because there would have been little time to buy a whole meal there. After another hour of driving to Downton Abby Village, we were once again given time restraints. This is where extra time should have been given . With a 40 minute window, all we did was run to see the church and wait in line to use the toilet for 20 minutes. Then we had a 2 hour bus trip back to London. The theme of this trip for us was RUSH. We rushed to take pictures and buy souvenirs . The guide was pleasant and gave some information about a few things, but not much. She did the best when we were actually in the city of London than in the countryside.

There needs to be more time at Blenheim. Start that part of the tour first, not last. Many of the Blenheim exhibits closed at 4;00 PM

We really went to see Bleinham Palace but we didn't get there until 330. The Palace closed at 430 and the tour guide didn't know the winter hours had started. Half of us didn't get to see all of the exhibits or go to the gift shop or cafes. The Palace should have been the 1st stop not the last.
