This Downtown Culinary Tour is provided by CHARLESTON CULINARY TOURS, the longest-running food tour company in Charleston. Visit four food establishments on this 2.5-hour tour that combines elements of a historical tour with a culinary adventure! Learn about Charleston's history as you enjoy tastings of traditional favorites and contemporary innovations, all of which highlight the cuisine of locally-owned restaurants. Insight into Lowcountry cuisine accompanies the broad range of samples on your food tour. This is our original tour around the French Quarter and City Market and focuses on the traditional flavors of the region.

Vegan, dairy/lactose, & soy restrictions cannot be adequately accommodated. Guests with multiple allergies should contact Charleston Culinary Tours prior to booking to confirm accommodation.

We make every effort to provide a full meal for all guests, however, substitutions for dietary restrictions may not be 1-for-1 with regular tour offerings.
We recommend weather-appropriate attire and comfortable walking shoes.
Tours operate rain or shine, hot or cold. In the rare cases of EXTREME weather (e.g. Hurricane!), we will notify all guests as soon as a decision to cancel has been made.

After meeting your foodie guide at the provided meeting location in downtown Charleston, you will begin your walking tour. Sample dishes at 4 restaurants, finishing with dessert. Each stop lasts ~30 minutes, and you'll be seated to rest your legs. For most people, the amount of food served overal is enough for a meal. As you enjoy walking through this historical section of the city, listen to stories about Charleston's culture and cuisine from your guide, who points out landmarks along your route. This wonderful experience will end within walking distance of your starting point. *Food restrictions must be separately communicated to Charleston Culinary Tours at least 24 hours in advance to be accommodated. *We cannot accommodate Vegan, Dairy/Lactose-Free, or Soy-Free diets.

5.00This was a great tour. The food was fantastic and plentiful, as well as locally significant. Simon spent his time with us and incorporated a lot of interesting history. The food was sufficient for a meal and we were even offered to take some home. Simon offered suggestions for dinner and activities later. My 9 year old daughter accompanied us, and she had a fun time as well. It's a great way to have a meal, meet other travelers, and even teach children history in an innovative way. We travel and do food Tours in several cities. I would say this is top notch. Thank you Simon!

5.00I go on a walking food tour in every city I visit and this one ranks as TOP NOTCH. Our guide, John, was beyond amazing. His knowledge of Charleston was amazing, his sense of humor was extraordinary, and the food choices were outstanding! I am returning to Charleston next summer with my husband and we will do this tour! Highly recommend!

5.00We had such a wonderful experience on our Charleston culinary tour with Michael. Every stop offered delicious food, and he did an amazing job explaining the stories behind each dish. What really made the day special, though, was his knowledge of Charleston’s history — especially the beautiful and charming Philadelphia Alley. His enthusiasm and passion brought everything to life, and I learned so much while enjoying great food. Highly recommend Michael if you’re looking for a fun, flavorful, and informative tour!

5.00Loved the culinary tour! Delicious food was served at each stop, huge portions, and each restaurant provided seating for our group. Our tour guide was extremely interesting and shared much information about Charleston, its history, food, and the restaurants we visited.

5.00It was one of the best food tours. Our hostess John was delightful, funny and knew all about Charleston history….we did eat way to much and cancelled our dinner reservations because we’re still full👍. We’ll be back! So worth the price!
