Mohammed is an outstanding guide. We have taken many guided tours around the world, and he truly ranks among the best. What makes him exceptional is his balance — he shares interesting information without overwhelming you, gives you time to enjoy each place, and keeps a relaxed but well-paced schedule. With the wrong guide this tour could feel long and tiresome, but the entire 8 hours was very pleasant. The Empty Quarter desert safari was the highlight and one of our favorite experiences in Oman. The drive itself was fascinating as we traveled from the Dhofar mountains (not green during our visit in the dry season) toward the vast sands of the Rub’ al Khali, the largest sand desert in the world. Along the way we stopped at Wadi Dawkah, the UNESCO frankincense reserve, where he explained the history of frankincense and its importance in ancient trade. We also stopped to see the famous black desert camels, which made for great photos. Once we reached the dunes, his skill really showed. The dune bashing was exciting but always felt safe and controlled. Our two children (ages 6 and 8) especially loved sledding down the dunes, and he even provided the sled. Watching the sunset over the Empty Quarter from the top of a dune was absolutely breathtaking as the sand changed colors with the setting sun. Mohammed speaks excellent English and engages wonderfully with the whole family. If you’re visiting Salalah and considering a desert safari to the Empty Quarter, we would absolutely book with Mohammed again.

Our guide Mohammed was perfect, kind and attentive to our every need. The desert is wonderful, too bad for the excessive presence of people and off-road for the dunes that effectively take away the poetry of silence.

An experience not to be missed in salalah, especially the final part on the dunes is really magical, the Mohammed guide really helpful and reliable, absolutely worth the price spent.

We were really pleased to have Mohammad as our tour guide during our recent visit to Salalah a week ago, which included one-day city tour plus overnight stay in the desert. Mohammad is an Omani with a deep knowledge of the culture, history, and traditions of Oman, especially the Dhofar region. He shown us the gems of Salalah, from its beautiful natural attractions, unique traditional markets, historical buildings to shopping places. His English is fluent and he has a great sense of humor making the journey enjoyable, something we really appreciate on long drives. He gave us tips on whether certain paid attractions or museums are worth visiting, although he leaves the final decision entirely up to us. Mohammad also took excellent care of us — ensuring everyone feels comfortable, safe, and well looked after. His desert driving skills are exceptional, and we always felt at ease even as he navigated us through challenging sand dune terrain in his 4x4. We highly recommend him as your tour guide of choice when visiting Salalah.
