We had a great time with Jorge and get to know Lisbon through his eyes. Jorge is very knowledgeable and passionate about Lisbon. During the tour, he told us a lot about Lisbon from its history, architecture to good restaurants & bars and even current affairs, public policy. He showed us the hidden paths and the best view points in the city without running into the crowds of tourists. He is also a very generous person. Although my husband joined us late in the middle of the tour, Jorge pushed back his dinner time so to make sure we didn't missed out any. Thank you so much again Jorge! Travel date: Oct 2017

In April of 2019 we had the most wonderful walk through the hidden gems of Lisbon with Jorge. A 3rd generation Lisbonite who is active in civic issues regarding the preservation and livability of Lisbon, Jorge’s love and pride in his birthplace really brought the city to life for us. We learned much and explored sights we would have walked past on our own. We asked for recommendations for an authentic Fado experience and good local food and we were delighted with his choices. Jorge never hurried us( we are photographers) and once he knew our special interests he made sure to include those types of sites. We walked with Jorge our first morning in Lisbon, and that walk gave us the information and confidence that made our remaining days of exploring on our own a wonderful experience. Pick Jorge. Joao was a wonderful guide! Not only was his English flawless, but he was knowledgeable, fun, and willing to share many of his favorite hidden treasures with us. We thoroughly enjoyed spending time walking through the Baixa with him. At the end of our tour he most kindly walked us to the train station so we could catch the train to Sintra for the afternoon. We highly recommend Withlocals for a different and very personal experience.

Joao was a GREAT guide! He met us at our hotel and walked us all around the city! We saw the neighborhoods of Lisbon and learned the history of Portugal in a way that made sense with the sites we visited. He speaks great English, is very knowlegable, and is patient and kind. He allowed us to push back our tour because of a flight delay, and generously stuck with us to cover everything- even found us a place to eat at the end of the night! Highly recommend

In all our travels, we have never had a guide come anywhere close to the brilliance of Joao. Walking with Joao, was like listing to a beloved professor tell the history of Lisbon’s saints and sinners. Our three hour tour was over in a flash and although we were completely satisfied, something inside you yearned for more. As a lover of history believe me when I say, if you select Joao as your guide, you will be more than 110% satisfied. Bernard

What a delight it was to meet Joao. He totally made our trip to Lisbon. I had been a little concerned that it might be hours of walking uphill but it was very relaxing and I never noticed the thousands of steps we did. There were plenty of coffee breaks in amazing cafes, sampling the ginginha, hearing Fado music from a street van and plenty more. Joao clearly loves Lisbon and knows its history in detail. We discovered so much of Lisbon and its surroundings that would not have been possible without Joao taking us around. We learnt so much about Portugal, its people, its politics, its history and culture. Joao is a fountain of knowledge and yet you never feel overloaded with information - he delivers it in an effortless and relaxed way. We were very sad to say goodbye and would definitely want to book Joao again on our next visit to Portugal. We had a fantastic experience. Thank you so much.

We explored the inner city with Jorge. Awesome experience! We were a Group of four people and Jorge was very knowledgeable about the history and showing the hidden gems of Lisbon. We chose to have the tour in Spanish and the communication was impecable. If discovering a beautiful city on foot floats your boat this is what you want to do. Done in 2017.

My daughter and I booked the Highlights and Hidden Gems tour of Lisbon with João. We had an easy walking tour throughout the city hitting all the well known sites. His knowledge of the history of the city and Portuguese culture is unsurpassed. He was easy to talk to & quite charming! João showed us how to get around the city the way the locals do which made the rest of our time there easier. We enjoyed a glass of vinho verde in a little cafe in Alfama, as we would do with a friend. There's nothing better than seeing the city with a local. I didn't want our time together to end. I highly recommend João for any Withlocals tour.

We had the most amazing day with Jorge our tour was booked for 3 hours but ended up much longer. Jorge was great from our first email he responded with a very friendly and accommodating manner, he was sensitive to our needs and was definitely a person with all the hidden gems. We would never have seen what we did if it was not for Jorge. Thank you and may you have a bumper season. You were my hidden gem for the day. NOTE: I AM REPOSTING THIS REVIEW AS WE TRAVELED FOUR YEARS AGO BUT THIS TRIP WAS ONE WE WILL NEVER FORGET AND OFTEN TALK ABOUT OUR WALKING TOUR WITH JORGE AND HOW IT WAS THE BEST MONEY SPENT
