Filipino food rewards the curious, but it isn’t always easy for newcomers to know where to start. Some of the best dishes aren’t the most obvious ones, and they’re often overlooked.
This tour is relaxed and flexible, and along the way I will be sharing historical and cultural context to the many influences that shape Filipino cuisine, from indigenous roots to Spanish and modern influences.
After years in the Los Angeles food scene and now living full-time in the Philippines, I help my guests bridge cultural and taste gaps so they can experience Filipino food with confidence.

Want to experience Dumaguete's local foods scene comfortably and pressure-free? Dumaguete Food Tour in English was created after guests on my popular Dumaguete nature tour kept asking for my restaurant and café recommendations. Food and drinks are paid directly based on what you choose; tour price covers guide, transportation and a relaxed, private experience. We explore local Filipino food, casual eateries, and hidden favorites—and learn how local history and culture tie in to culinary practices. Choose your own foodie adventure! No two tours are the same, and all are personalized to your tastes. Whether you prefer vegetarian, vegan, seafood, meat, or snacking options, I’ll guide you to places locals love and visitors rarely find on their own. We’ll explore where Filipino food begins, including local markets and selected eateries serving regional favorites. Along the way, you’ll learn how locals choose produce, understand food traditions, and sample dishes that reflect Dumaguete’s everyday food culture. Sunday tours include time at the popular Valencia Farmers Market and feature a slightly expanded itinerary.

My family had a wonderful time. Kids (11 and 13) tried all the food and enjoyed seeing some unique areas. My son even used some knowledge in his school assignment. Great for westerners who want to try stuff without the risk of getting sick! Easy, informative, fun... worth it.
