DUSHANBE TO DARVOZ (KALAIKHUM) 5–6 HRS
Drive towards Kulob on A385 road. Enjoy the views of one of the world’s highest hydropower station Nurek in a distance. Visit 11th-century Hulbuk Palace before Kulob village. Head on to the Shurobod pass. After the pass, deep rocky valleys and gorgeous mountains open up. Drive along Panj River with amazing mountain views and through numerous local villages. Arrival in Kalaikhum village. Dinner and overnight in a homestay.
DARVOZ (KALAIKHUM) TO KHOROG CITY, 5-6 HRS
Breakfast. Travel to Khorog city. The road continues along the Afghan border with picturesque scenery and widens up in the Vanj valley with gorgeous mountain views along the river. Arrival in Khorog city. Accommodation in a hotel. Afternoon, do evening hike in a Botanical Garden that has various plants and trees to explore.
KHOROG CITY - ISHKASHIM VILLAGE - YAMCHUN FORTRESS & HOT SPRINGS - LANGAR VILLAGE, 5-6 HR
Breakfast. Visit fortress Khaaka on the way at Namadgut village right after leaving Ishkashim village. It is worth a 10 minutes stop. Take another detour on the way at Yamchun to admire the 12th century Yamchun Fortress rising from a platform of natural rock. Walk up to the edge of the fort and you will have an amazing view of Wakhan valley. Further up the hillside are located the hot springs of Bibi Fatima with its crystal waters rich in minerals. Walk back to your car and drive to Langar village.
LANGAR VILLAGE - PANORAMA RIDGE TREK ( 3-4 HRS) AT KARGUSH PASS – BULUNKUL & YASHILKUL LAKES – ALICHUR VILLAGE, 7-8 HR
Breakfast. Travel to Kargush pass, 2hrs. Road follows the river Pamir all the way to Kargush checkpoint with the chance to admire the Big Pamir of Afghanistan with nomadic Afghan Kyrgyz caravans. Arrival at the Kargush pass and start the 3-4 hrs trek to Panorama Ridge at 4800 meters. While walking up, two small lakes behind you at roadside open up to cheer you. Enjoy the stunning mountain scenery of Great Pamir on Afghan border on the top of pass. Walk back to your car. Take another side trip to see alpine lakes Bulunkul Yashilkul. Drive to Alichur village, 1 hr.
ALICHUR VILLAGE - OBSERVATORY HILL - MURGAB VILLAGE - KARAKUL LAKE , 6-7 HR
Breakfast. We take a detour to Observatory Hill. You will see a nice view of Muztagh Ata peak of China on top of the hill if no clouds in the sky. Down the hill, there is a Soviet truck full of skulls of Marco Polo sheep inside. Once upon a time, it was a hunting camp. Back to the main road and go to Murgab village. Lunch in a local guesthouse or café. Travel goes on to Karakul lake with the highest pass Akbaital (4655 m) you will ever do in Tajikistan, 3hr. Take photos of glaciers on the pass. Arrival in Karakul lake. Overnight and dinner in a guesthouse.
KARAKUL LAKE - SARYMOGOL VILLAGE – LENIN PEAK BASE CAMP, 4–5 HRS
Base Camp For Peak Lenin
Breakfast. Drive to the checkpoint, 1hr. Cross the borders and head up to the Lenin Peak Base Camp via Sarymogol village, 3 hrs. Arrival in the yurt camp at the base camp and lunch in a yurt. Explore the snowcapped Lenin Peak in Pamir mountain range by taking a day hike from your yurt camp to the Traveler’s pass at 4130 meters, 3 hrs. Enjoy the beauty of glaciers while walking up to the pass. Rest at the top of the Traveler’s pass to gaze at glaciers tumbling off the massive peak. Back to your yurts, 2 hrs. Overnight and dinner in a yurt.
LENIN PEAK BASE CAMP– SARYMOGOL VILLAGE - OSH CITY, 4–5 HRS
Osh
Breakfast. Drive to Osh city along the numerous Kyrgyz villages and shepherd’s yurts scattered in mountains slopes, 5 hrs. Arrival and be accommodated in your hotel. End of the trip.

5.00I enjoyed seven days of Pamir highway in a small group with a good car and a goid driver for less than 500 euros, which is a great price for a trip like this. I can only recommend Alay! :-)

5.00I did the 9 day Dushanbe to Osh tour, and it was an 10/10 experience that I would highly recommend. Seeing the diverse landscapes, meeting the local people, and having so many new experiences was amazing. Our guide Nurbek was great, he was always calm even when our itinerary changed last minute due to a landslide - he took us to do an additional hike instead and it was a great day.

5.00We had an an amazing experience travelling in the Pamir’s. Our guide and driver Nurbek was excellent and made sure the tour was comfortable, fun and considered all of our requests along the way. The price of the tour was very reasonable as we were able to see places we would not have found independently. I would highly recommend booking with VisitAlay for a Pamir Highway tour.

5.00Our group of four spent 7 days with Kokon on the Pamir Highway, and we couldn't have asked for a better driver, guide, or person to share this adventure with. The highway was beautiful and it was like nothing I've ever seen before. Kokon is an excellent driver and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire trip, even on some of the more challenging roads. He was incredibly caring and attentive, always checking in to make sure everyone was feeling okay, especially with the altitude. It was clear that he genuinely cared about the well-being of everyone in the group. His English was also great, which made communication easy and allowed us to learn so much more about the region, the culture, and daily life along the Pamir Highway. What stood out most was his kindness and generosity. When we ran into some unexpected issues, Kokon immediately offered for us to stay with his family free of charge. That kind of hospitality is rare and says a lot about the kind of person he is. Kokon has a huge heart, a great sense of humor, and was a big part of what made this trip so special. I would highly recommend him to anyone planning a Pamir Highway tour. Kokon, we hope our paths cross again someday. Thank you for taking such good care of us and for giving us memories that will last a lifetime. It was truly an unforgettable experience.

5.00In short, this was an incredible and unforgettable experience, and I would highly recommend both Visit Alay and our driver, Kokon, to anyone interested in a once-in-a-lifetime journey along the Pamir Highway. Kokon was a caring, friendly, funny, and attentive driver who truly made the trip special. His excellent English allowed us to communicate easily and learn about the history, culture, and significance of the Pamir Highway and the many places we visited along the way. He has an incredibly big heart and genuinely cared about everyone in the group, always making sure we were having a great time and felt safe throughout the journey. When some of us experienced altitude sickness and other health issues, Kokon went above and beyond to help us find medication, make time for rest, and regularly check in on how we were feeling. His kindness and positive attitude had a huge impact on the group dynamic. Our trip was filled with laughter, singing, dancing, and countless inside jokes that made the experience even more memorable. On top of that, he was an exceptionally safe and careful driver, which gave us peace of mind on the long and challenging roads of the Pamirs. Visit Alay was also fantastic to work with from start to finish. The team was organized, responsive, and communicative throughout the entire process. They arranged all of the necessary permits, provided clear trip information in advance, and were always available whenever we had questions or needed assistance. Everything was handled smoothly, allowing us to focus on enjoying the adventure. Overall, we had an amazing experience. Our fellow travelers were wonderful, Kokon was an outstanding guide and driver, and Visit Alay delivered a well-organized and seamless trip. 5.00I can’t recommend this tour enough. Sadyk was a fantastic guide and tailored the journey to our interests, including changing the plans to stay in a yurt with a hot springs at the last second instead of a home stay. The tour was well worth the price as driving yourself would mean you don’t get to experience the views and scenery. Some great hikes in there, none of which are very long, but with the altitude could be difficult (up to 4800m). Best way to do the Pamir Highway with no stress and without feeling like a tourist trail.

5.00Kairat was truly a wonderful guide and driver throughout our Pamir Highway journey. With more than a decade of experience navigating this challenging route, he transported us safely and efficiently across the vast landscapes and, at times, treacherous road conditions. Beyond his extensive local knowledge, Kairat’s personable nature stood out. He maintained strong connections with fellow drivers along the route, gathering valuable information about road conditions ahead and adjusting our plans accordingly. What impressed us most was his genuine care for his travellers. When he knew that one of us turned 80 year old in the trip, Kairat went out of his way to arrange a cake for a surprised celebration. On another occasion, when one of us skipped dinner, he thoughtfully checked in to make sure everything was alright. These small but meaningful gestures reflected his attentiveness and kindness. We highly recommend Kairat to anyone planning a Pamir Highway adventure. His professionalism, experience, local expertise, and sincere hospitality made our journey both safe and memorable.

5.00Was the most amazing experience ive ever had. Being in such a remote part of the world ill never forget. Kairat was such a welcoming and funny guy, who drove us the whole way in once piece and i would 1000% recommend him. Ill never forget the 9 days we had he made sure we were having fun always.

5.00This was a trip to remember. Every day was a new experience. The views were unlike anything I’d seen before. Kairat was a true friend as well as our driver. Aside from getting us from place to place and solving issues, he embraced our humour and made the experience so much fun. He put us on to some great music and taught us sick dance moves.
