Kakum National Park
Kakum National Park is a tropical rainforest and major Ghanaian eco-tourism destination in the Central Region, known for its 350-meter-long canopy walkway suspended high above the forest floor. Established as a forest reserve in 1925 and reclassified as a national park in 1992, it protects diverse wildlife, including forest elephants, leopards, monkeys, and over 300 bird species. Visitors can enjoy guided nature walks, medicinal plant tours, bird watching, and night excursions, as well as modern facilities including a children's park and a butterfly sanctuary.
Elmina Castle
Elmina Castle is the oldest European structure in the sub-Saharan Africa, built by the Portuguese in 1482 as a trading post for gold and ivory, later evolving into a major center of the transatlantic slave trade. The Dutch took over the castle in 1637 and the British in 1872, with the structure becoming a significant, albeit horrific, site where enslaved Africans were held in unsanitary dungeons before being transported across the Atlantic. Today, it stands as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a museum, serving as a poignant monument to the millions who suffered in the slave trade and a vital tourist destination for those seeking to connect with this history

5.00My favorite day in Ghana by far! The road trip is definitely worth it. I'm a solo traveler who has done many similar tours throughout the world, and this one was truly special. It is the perfect mix of beautiful nature and heartbreaking history. Hamza stayed in touch from the moment I booked until the day of the trip. He is an excellent, safe driver and offered me a convenient hotel pick-up. The car was extremely comfortable and well-maintained, which made the long journey feel very easy. Hamdu is simply the best—he is my favorite person I met in Ghana. He is incredibly knowledgeable and provides deep, meaningful insights into the history we explored. Beyond his expertise, he is so attentive; he constantly checked in to make sure I was feeling good and had everything I needed throughout the long day. His kind personality and genuine care for my experience made the trip unforgettable. I cannot recommend this duo enough!

5.00Hamza was on time, very personable, professional and knowledgeable! His vehicle is clean and comfortable. He shares information about each town as we were on our journey and allowed us to ask so many questions so that we understood the history and culture of Ghana! Would definitely book again!

5.00I had an unforgettable experience with Akwaaba Adventures on their Cape Coast Tour. The entire trip was so well-organized, and our guide was both professional and incredibly knowledgeable. We started with a visit to Elmina Castle, where we were taken through the powerful history of the Atlantic Slave Trade. It was an emotional but important reminder of the resilience of the human spirit. From there, we explored Cape Coast Castle, another eye-opening experience that gave us a deeper understanding of Ghana’s history and culture. One of the highlights was the Kakum National Park Canopy Walk—walking above the lush rainforest was breathtaking and offered stunning views you can’t find anywhere else. The mix of history, nature, and culture made this tour truly unique. What stood out most was how Akwaaba Adventures handled every detail with care, making sure we were comfortable, safe, and fully immersed in the experience.
