Ah, Edinburgh! They don't call it "The Jekyll & Hyde City" for nothing. During the day, a respectable figure, with its astonishing architecture and wondrous history. But when the sun sets, it tells an entirely different story...
Hear all about the darker history of Edinburgh: murderers, thieves, cannibals, hangings and decapitations, witches, the Plague and streams of human waste. Learn about the most notorious citizens of Edinburgh and how ghost stories are born.
This is not a ghost tour: we don't need costumes or people jumping from behind the corners, Edinburgh's Dark History itself is enough to make your skin crawl. And oh, how we love to share it with our visitors...

Great tour. Our guide Joe brought to life the history of Edinburgh, what is was like to live there in past and the interesting and often dark stories of various real historical figures.

If you fancy a walk through some kirkyards and stories of the dead, this is a must. Robert, and his friend Robert Ferguson offered a nice evening stroll around some of the quieter, hidden-away parts of the city. Robert was super knowledgeable on his history, and answered a bevy of questions from our group alongside a number of anecdotes about all sorts of Scottish history. A little more relaxed than some of the hurried tours we’d been on, but would definitely recommend to any history fans or anyone just looking for some good stories while walking through graveyards

Edinburgh's dark history tour was a great experience! Joe's storytelling added a whole new layer to Edinburgh's streets and landmarks. His narratives had depth, making history feel real. I'll never see the city in the same way again.

This tour was so fun and insightful, and rounded out our time in Edinburgh. Our tour guide Calum was incredibly informed in all the darker history of the city, and was able to balance colorful and fun storytelling while also showing a deep respect for all the victims of these events. Highly recommend :)

Our dark history tour was certainly eye opening and gave us a glimpse into the darker side of Edinburgh’s history. Robert was a great guide and so knowledgeable about all of the darker sides and gory details of the weird and wonderful tales he spoke of, peppering it with humour throughout. It was great to hear some of the lesser known tales and legends and to see parts of Edinburgh that we would not have stubbled upon if not on the tour. It really helped us immerse ourselves in the history of the city and Roberts storytelling made us feel like we were there, but thank god we weren’t! Overall the tour was great value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
