  My trip to northern Ethiopia with Haile Salassie of Ethiopia Tigray Tours can be described as spiritual, educational and life-changing. I chose a great tour with a blend of history, culture, and adventure. The main part of my tour was my trek to the ancient church located high in a Tigrayan cliff called Abune Yamata. I have to admit that I was afraid to climb the church; however, Haile assured me that I would not fall as he had multiple guides in place and provided calm encouragement throughout the climb. The other part was at the ancient church at Wukro Chekros, which was built a little over 400 years after Christ was on Earth. Haile answered every question I asked with thoroughness and a seriousness of purpose as I learned about sites associated with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The pictures and videos from this experience have positively changed the perception of family and friends back home. I will embark on another trip that would serve well in the promotion and awareness of the Tigray region as a premiere destination to Africa with Ethiopia Tigray Tours as the official tour agency. As I now call him a brother, the hospitality by Haile Salassie and the people of Tigray is worth a return trip. Alton J. Willis New Orleans, USA

  Haile was able to accommodate to all my needs by going above and beyond. Together with his colleague from Mekelle they made my trip to Tigray once in a life time. He was able to engage all of us at our level with a lot of care.

  We had very good trip with Ethiopia Tigray Tours, Haile knows the region very well, he is flexible, very nice and polite person. I recommend his agency, they can prepare tailor made trip through the region...

  We had a two days visit to the Ger’alta region of Tigray and Haile was our tour guide who made our trip very enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable and time effective.   Haile guided our group of 6 Lithuanians and 2 Americans as we executed a packed itinerary of historic sites and slept in remote community guesthouses. We greatly benefitted from his knowledge, communication skills and adaptability. I was especially grateful that he kept an eye out for my companion whenever she trailed behind the group to take photos ... helping us all navigate difficult terrain and providing assistance as needed. His good English and Tigrigna language skills and familiarity with the hiking routes allowed us to have fun as we navigated the agricultural and pastoral communities with cultural sensitivity and diplomacy. Haile offered to take photos capturing beautiful, shared memories in the gorgeous landscapes. We sincerely appreciate his genuine kindness and passionate love for his homeland. I would highly recommend him for any activity in the Tigray region.

  Hile is a very nice person, so friendly and with a big knowledge of the orthodox cristianity. I visited 2 rocky churches with him, in the Wukro group, absolutely beautiful. The first one, Abraha we Atsbeha is about 15 km from Wukro, and it has the best paintings in the zone. Moreover, Hile brought me to a typical ceremony in the early morning, set in wukro chercos, the main church in Wukro; an experience absolutely unique.
