• Interesting Hike, Don’t Need a stop for Cookies

  The volcano was an interesting experience, and a cool hike, but it was an unnecessarily long tour, and NOT on the Volcano portion. Alessandro was very passionate about Mt Etna but a nearly 6.5 hour tour was about 2 hours too long. There was an unnecessary stop in his home town to go to his friend’s coffee shop to have a cookie and cannoli. Sure it’s yummy, but we killed an hour there. The winery tour was actually a very beautiful wine tasting room, a small vineyard and a video of how wine used to be made decades ago. We had two tastings. But again, this was a belabored explanation that felt like it was just padding time on to our trip. Which was to see the volcano. Just please …. get me to the volcano. Also we had some harrowing moments when we drove through fog so dense we could not see ANYTHING in front of us. At that point I requested we abort the trip to the volcano, and turn around. He agreed, but we needed to find a safe turnaround on the extremely narrow 2 way road. Once we arrived at that spot the fog had cleared. But that was an extremely intense 10 minutes of literally Driving Blind. I also had to ask him to put down his phone as he was driving. He did it multiple times — the last straw was trying to do an Internet search for a restaurant 😳. (Not even a cell phone mount in his car??). We appreciate the passion and knowledge but a more streamlined tour would be great. It’s not more value to get a longer tour. Returning at 8:40 pm just makes for a super long day (especially with a 12 year old).

  Amazing! Allessandro was amazing. So knowledgeable. Tailored the entire day to our group. Safe, great driver, personalized. He is a true volcano whisperer. We went in a volcano tube, visited a winery with tasting, hiked the crater and went off on our own (away from the crazy tourists) and finished with olive oil and more wine tasting. We had the best day!!!

• Must do Etna tour!

  Absolutely excellent tour, Alessandro was an expert and fantastic guide through all aspects of the tour, from the vineyard to Mount Etna and its craters and caves. My partner and I had an amazing day from start to finish.

  We had a memorable day driving through the streets of Sicily on our trip to Mt. Etna. Along the way we stopped at Bar Rapisarda. The owners are true artisans and I believe I tasted the most delicious cannoli I have ever had in my life. Our second stop was Mondifeso, a charming local winery with a storied history. We were able to learn more about the unique nature of how grapes are grown for the Etna wines and also taste what makes them so special. As we continued our journey Alessandro treated us to background and history of Mt. Etna that made the trip to the mountain come alive. We couldn’t have asked for more from a tour guide who was not only a skilled driver and story-teller, but also an amusing and entertaining selfie-expert! Thank you Alessandro for a great day!

  Alessandro’s super friendly and knowledgeable of everything Sicilian and especially for this trip - Mt Etna! He made this excursion fun while educational and took very good care of my group of 4 friends. Highly recommend him for your trip to mt etna!
