Mount Etna
Once we reach the ski station, we go up the volcano slope by cableway, coming across old extinct craters as well as lava fields from more recent eruptions. At about 2000 and 2700 m we will be able to see very few plant species that manage to survive in very extreme conditions, such as extreme temperatures both in winter and summer, dry soil, strong wind. All around us, craters and solid lava flows coloured in shades of black, grey and red; here, the incessant activity of the volcano does not allow vegetation to grow. By looking carefully, we can notice round lava rocks that differ in colour and density if compared to the surrounding: we are talking about lava bomb. We just reached the most crucial moment of our excursion: the visit of a crater. It is a pyroclastic slagheap that has been thrown out from the volcanic shaft and, once placed around the eruptive vent, creates a cone. Once we get to the edge of the lateral crater. 5.00Absolutely remarkable, the tour was very well organized and they did indeed take us to go see lava! I tried to contact other companies and many other companies would not offer lava tours so I'm thankful I found EtnaWay. Our guide picked us up and dropped us off and was very kind, informative, and welcoming. I HIGHLY recommend going with EtnaWay for any tours on the mountain.

5.00On August 13 enjoyed the tour all day. Gianpaolo was the Guide and he told us a lot about the origin and about the flora and fauna he knew an incredible amount about. We've walked paths you'd never normally go on. Also the difference of lava and stone and of each eruption a story. I have now been to Etna five times but have never seen and heard so much. On the last part we went to the tunnel and also heard beautiful story. Compliment to the Guide Gianpaolo. Wants to say that communication in advance with Etna tours is perfect. Everything is arranged.

5.009 girls and two guides spent several hours on this natural wonder. It was a great experience and Claudio and Sebastian were the best guides you could wish for. Our guide Rosi introduced us to the geology, mineralogy, flora and history of Etna in a very interesting way and connected this with many hints about the culture and development of the whole island of Sicily.
